Rich | 3 comments This group looks like it can help me stop racking my brain trying to remember a series I read some time last year I think.
Plot: There were light witches (maybe called casters) of various skill; green-nature/healing, red-fire, etc. Three ran a little occult shop in Atlanta. They used it as cover even though they were real witches. There was some sort of shielding around Atlanta to keep them hidden from demons and from some Council that forced light witches into service for them. There was a fourth witch that didn’t know what she was although she knew she was different. She had a special needs brother that she took care of. Something attacked her and she ran away and ended up in Atlanta. A group of demons chasing her would discover these other casters which she was drawn to there shop.
There was also group of protectors that watched after the witches, they may have been called watchers or guardians or wardens or something. They were assigned to a caster but did not show themselves to them. These watchers had some sort of demon symbiot thing in them that made it painful to touch, be close to, or fall in love with these witches but of course they do which is horribly painful for them.

The other 3 take this new girl in and give her a job and have to convince her of what she is and she actually completes their circle. Demons after them, wardens protecting them, each falling in love, and each book focusing mainly on one of the witches and her situation while progressing the story. I think the last book was the one on the fire witch who was also great with knives and she tried her best to not fall in love with her protector.
I keep searching lists and websites but haven't found them yet. It is bugging me so much now I want to read them all again. :)
Hours of google searches have gotten me no closer. I have read so many books, they tend to run together but I can't grab this one and it remains on the tip of my tongue.

HELP!!!!!!!!! :)

Marianne This is by Lilith Saintcrow. Her Watcher series. I'm not sure of the specific book. It's been a long time since I read them. First in the series is Dark Watcher. They are definitely in the camp of Paranormal Romance rather than Urban Fantasy, but still are quite good. I loved them.

Rich | 3 comments YOU ROCK!!!!! That's them. Wow, thank you thank you.
The Watchers

They are Circle Lightfall’s combat arm, tall, grim, and armed with black-bladed knives–as well as swords, guns, and whatever’s handy to get the job done.

Their mission? Protect the Lightbringers.

The greatest danger? Falling in love…

Dark Watcher
Storm Watcher
Fire Watcher
Cloud Watcher
Mindhealer

Marianne You are quite welcome. Saintcrow is my very favorite urban fantasy author and I am always thrilled for an opportunity to sing her praises.

carol. Her blog is lots of fun as well. I have only read a couple of her series, but I enjoy her posts/photography/ humor.

Marianne I follow her blog too. It's very balanced between writing advice and updates, and personal stuff. Squirrels!

Brianna | 36 comments I love Lilith Saintcrow's writing style. :D
I haven't read the Watcher series, though I do have them. I've read all the Dante Valentine novels, and the first three Jill Kismet ones.
I love her blog. Lots of fun. :)

To be honest, these books are very different from her other series. Some would say they aren't as good and probably be right. They are romance first, I think. Still, I liked them a lot, but then I read romance too.

I'm not usually a paranormal romance reader, but I make the occasional exception. I'd be interested to see how she does with a more romance-driven book, as much as I like how fast-paced and action-packed her other books are. I'll give them a try.
