Nicola Palmer | 255 comments Ever peeled a yam? They smell exactly like that. Unless mine was off. Maybe I shouldn't have eaten it. I nearly didn't when it reminded me of that.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Hehehe! Thanks Nicola!

I thought I'd killed the thread!

i probably shouldn't hit post now."

Wouldn't that depend upon whether the male has fertilised them or not?

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Are votes still coming in?

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments 4way tie for first now.

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Decision made (finally).

message 58: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Ooo! Has that put one out in front, or caused a 5 way tie?

message 59: by Nicola (new)

Nicola Palmer | 255 comments Voted! Still all tied up?

message 60: by Marc (new)

Marc Nash (sulci) | 4313 comments 13 votes cast is a tad disappointing. Almost as many votes as entries. I spent all of oooh easily 10 minutes composing mine :-)

Congratulations to the Poet Lolaureate who won

message 61: by B J (new)

B J Burton (bjburton) | 2680 comments Well done whoever won. In fact, well done all entrants. I rather thought that this theme might generate more interest, but the members of this group clearly have such delicate sensibilities that the topic was beneath their consideration.
Thanks for the chuckles, you brave entrants.

message 62: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Thanks Marc and BJ. I admit to using the power of Manilow.

And thanks to all those who voted; it is so satisfying to win with such a huge margin. ;~)

message 63: by B J (new)

B J Burton (bjburton) | 2680 comments Well, David, you received 50% more votes than any other - so it was a huge margin!

message 64: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Those percentages eh? They can be so misleading.

message 65: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments My vote went to: The 23rd Annual 'Is Reading Better Than Sex?' Conference.

message 66: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments You get to pick the next theme David, PM it to me for next Wednesday.

You should also supply the lovely Ignite with your email address so she can send you your amazon voucher

message 67: by David (last edited Nov 21, 2013 07:25AM) (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Ok, Jud. That's the hard bit: theme, not sending email.

message 68: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Well you have just under a week to think on it. PLenty of time for inspiration to strike

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Congrats David!

message 70: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments Well done, David! And thanks for voting for mine - the conference one!

What a shame so few voted. Perhaps we should give a voucher to the voters too to attract more interest ;)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Yeah, 60 views and so few votes is just pathetic.

Perhaps I should offer cookies.

message 72: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Thanks Patti and Jonathan. Still don't know who the Manilow fans are.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Congrats David - I voted for you, again :)
Mine was how do I love thee - yay second equal!!
It's a shame we don't get more voters though

message 74: by David (last edited Nov 21, 2013 09:54AM) (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Thanks Rosemary, my writing obviously draws you in ;~)

The last couple did get more voters, but I think Simon PM'd the group.

Nicola Palmer | 255 comments David wrote: "Thanks Patti and Jonathan. Still don't know who the Manilow fans are."

I'll admit to being a vote for Manilow. Can't resist a cheesy little number.

Was that a bad choice of adjective given the theme?

message 76: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments *coughs into clenched fist*

Not at all Nicola.

Thanks for the vote; just one closet Manilow fan to find :D

My anti-virus defences would only zap them or are you talking about cookie cookies? :)

message 82: by R.M.F. (new)

R.M.F. Brown | 2124 comments And congrats to David as well.

message 83: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Thanks. Haven't a clue yet for the next theme :~/

message 84: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments I didn't vote. Not because I didn't mean to but because it was too hard to do straight away, the quality was very high. Then the last two weeks just disappeared into some kind of black hole and The next thing I know, David has won - nice one David - and I don't know where they've gone.

Cheers

MTM
