J (julip) | 57 comments Thank you! doesn't sound familiar at all but the age is good...now to find a copy to check it out

J, was "Photo by Nicki" your book?

message 54: by J (new)

J (julip) | 57 comments Still have found no copy available, so haven't eliminated it. I found a couple other titles by the same author and the style of writing leaves me thinking it is not going to be a winner but would love to be surprised. Thanks for checking in!

Ayshe | 4721 comments A few more suggestions from the photographers subject:
http://www.worldcat.org/title/inconst...
http://www.worldcat.org/title/my-own-...
http://www.worldcat.org/title/not-sai...
http://www.worldcat.org/title/beachco...
They all appear to be "Woman's weekly library" series, does it sound familiar to you?

message 56: by J (new)

J (julip) | 57 comments Thank you for keeping the search alive! I will see what I can do To get a better description on the titles or get ahold of physical copies. Definitely not the "Saints", and probably not the one which includes tag on siblings, since she was an only child. But I will check into it anyways if I can, just in case it's a mis-tag.

Was it romantic suspense, or purely romance? No thrillerish aspects?

message 59: by J (new)

J (julip) | 57 comments The suspense was basically from the storm and from discovering his identity. I don't recall there being anything deeper. So not quite just romance but def not thriller either.

Ayshe | 4721 comments Love's Strange Mysteries? It's 1982 publication, but girl on the cover appears to be holding camera and reminded me of this thread (I can't find any descriptions).

I found some images of the book on ebay. Some of the images have the book's blurb.

Ayshe | 4721 comments Thank you! Young, pretty Kay Inger met Felix Guthrie, the mysterious security guard, on the ferry to Gull Island. And from the start their relationship was difficult. Kay came to the island to write a magazine article about the Black Legacy, a valuable antique pin that was recently dug up there. Buried by pirates, the Black Legacy was said to be cursed. Even today it was connected with ghostly happenings and screams in the night. It troubled the new friends Kay had made on the island. And worst of all, Kay could not be sure of Felix's true connection with the antique. For though this man she loved was seemingly guarding a mansion, she knew he was hiding something from her.
So, not it.

J (julip) | 57 comments Ayshe; thanks, for a minute I was getting excited there: but no. No "black legacy buried by pirates" or "ghostly curses" in mine. But that's the closest I've seen yet.

Andrea (escritora) | 6 comments I know the book but not the name! If I give some more details someone might remember. This is one of a series where all the people in their small group have their own love story. The girl, who ends up being Sebastian's (woman!) is an art and estate photographer and estimator who is hired to fly to the island of a reclusive billionaire, Sebastian. She has no idea who he is and they definitely get together really quickly. Sebastian's sister watches the attachment and is thrilled because he has shut himself off since (I think it was a woman hurt him). The father has a heart incident and has to fly home, leaving the girl to finish the job. She does and finds out that Sebastian isn't what he said. He's the billionaire and she flees back to the mainland. She returns to the island to talk things through and they have their HEA. I hope that's it and I'll keep looking through my books for the answer!! Oh! There's also an ex-boyfriend who is a real prick and lies to Sebastian that the girl and he are back together and getting married.

J (julip) | 57 comments Very Similar Andrea but according to my memory, not exactly: the caretaker/rich guy has no sister that I recall and the girl definitely never had her father helping her. Also I'm pretty sure her ex is just briefly mentioned in contemplation of the past and never had any contact with us the audience or with the caretaker /rich guy. There was a third guy who she had dinner with and rode in a boat over to the island with once, but they were not ever anything serious. Also I am pretty sure that she never learns his identity on the island. It's only later in the city at his Art show I seem to recall. It seems like he specially requested her to handle one of his paintings and that had something to do with how she found out... I hope you find your book title for me so I can check it out in case you're right and I am just recalling it differently after all this time.

Kym | 1056 comments Invitation to a Waltz by Beverly C. Warren?

Though Laura Bickford’s romantic desires were kept well in hand by the memory of a wounded heart, her imagination chafed her with thoughts of becoming as antiquated as the rare treasure she cared for at the Brooklyn Museum. It was thus a sympathetic teaming of her heart’s quiescent passion and her mind’s disciplined aptitude for work that prompted her to accept a commission to catalog and photograph the paintings in a prominent artist’s mansion on an island in the St. Lawrence River.

Although initially absorbed by her work, Laura is progressively enchanted by the island’s native splendor and splendid natives -- two men in particular. One is a debonair yacht designer whose unabashed ambition strikes a responsive chord in Laura. The other is an enigmatic caretaker. His unseemly arrogance, out of all proportion to his position, is oddly coupled with a devastatingly charming manner. In spite of herself she falls in love with this mysterious man, whose turbulent nature she knows even less than she suspects.
