It occurs to me, 50 books in a year is only one book every little-more-than-a-week, we should have no problem with this!!!

Honestly? I didn't love it. The novel definitely has some FNS (first-novel-syndrome). The story had real potential, and I wished it had been a bit better-executed.
Also, a personal gripe: the author is from New England, and her story is set in the North Shore area (Salem, Marblehead). Either the author or the editor felt compelled to constantly remind the reader of the "local color" by writing the supporting characters speaking in very thick Boston accents, spelled out phonetically. It may not bother a non-New Englander, but I found it grating.
Other people really did enjoy the book, so I would still give it a whirl. It is an intriguing story and concept.

Woohoo! Do you know yet what the illustrious 50th book will be??
I have thought about it, but no final decisions yet! I'm still torn. I know I will persevere and the Mercedes Lackey will be the 49th, even though I think it's the root of my recent spate of nightmares. I'm hoping to get it over with quickly, like ripping off a band-aid, and will exorcise the nightmares.
