The eighth compartment of Carriage 2. It can seat eight, but for comfort's sake, usually seats no more than six.

"See? I told you it would be empty," Melly said to Lisbet sweetly in her singsong lilty voice. Carefully, she set the large trunk down on the ground and once it was resting soundly on the ground, she walked over to the lanky Ravenclaw and took her hand. "Why don't you sit down?" she suggested gently, leading the blonde towards a bench.

"Ahhhh..." Lisbet sighed in relief as she hoisted her luggage onto the rack, caught Melly's outstretched hand, and collapsed into a seat, to watch the rain streaking the windows. It was a melancholy sort of day. The glass was frigid to the touch, and Lisbet recoiled from the freezing surface, her now-ruddy hand throbbing and moist. A heavy fog was now curling, in dense wisps, across the highlands, obscuring the little sunlight left.

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) As promised, once they were no longer occupied with the trunk, Melly untied her shawl and gingerly, she placed Chelsea into Lisbet's scrawny arms, giving her a smile. "She might cry," she warned the Ravenclaw, "but just give her lots of love and she'll warm to you soon enough."

C (beyondtheveil) | 354 comments Lisbet looked down at the kitten with undisguised tenderness as she cradled the slip of an animal in her arms. She had always loved animals. They had been there for her when her parents had not. It was superbly comforting to know that you had a pet to rely on when humans let you down. Wistfully, Lisbet slipped into contemplation yet again. It would be nice to become an Animagus, she thought. Soaring freely through the sky without the hindrance of sorrow or neglect.

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) Smiling, Melly took a seat on the same bench as Lisbet, noticing the softening of the blonde girl's face and wondering what had happened in the young Ravenclaw's childhood to harden her at the tender age of fourteen. She voiced none of this out loud though and asked after a moment of comfortable silence instead, "Are you excited to be returning to Hogwarts, Lisbet?"

C (beyondtheveil) | 354 comments Softly, in a voice worlds away from her her usual harsh, grating tones, Lisbet murmured, "Of course, it's basically my home." Snapping out of her pensive state, she noticed that the sky outside had turned pitch-black, as though some great, unknown force had blacked it out with a massive paintbrush. Suddenly, she gingerly helped the kitten off of her stomach, where it had been nipping the soft material of her shirt. "We'd better get into our robes. We're nearly there."

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) Giving the girl a knowing smile, Melly chuckled ever so slightly in her bell-like voice and replied, "The train is only just pulling out now." She nodded towards the blackened sky through the window and added, "We can still see the train. See?"

C (beyondtheveil) | 354 comments "Oh, yes, you're right." Lisbet shook her head to clear it of hallucinatory thoughts and sat down, her head spinning. The kitten crawling up her jean leg once more, she absent-mindedly stroked its soft, silky fur as she gazed once more out the window. She had seen a flash of something just beyond the glass boundary. She felt drowsy, and smiled in a lazy way before drifting off into contented sleep.

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) That's a good idea, Melly thought, realizing that she, too, was tired. Might as well get some shuteye before the craziness of the first night back at Hogwarts. She placed her shawl over Lisbet and then, grabbing a cushion, she lay her head down on it and fell asleep before her eyes were completely closed.

C (beyondtheveil) | 354 comments Stirring gently from her sleep, Lisbet awoke. This time, she was sure that they were almost to Hogsmeade Station. Turning around, she spotted the slumbering Melly, kitten in lap, and gently poked her to wake her. With a great effort, Lisbet heaved her trunk down from the luggage rack, undid the clasps, and began scouring the messy space for her school robes. The rain pattered like a steady drumbeat on the window, and Lisbet hummed Vivaldi's "Spring" to herself as she rummaged through the case.

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) Feeling herself being shaken awake, Melly stirred and as she blinked her large, soft eyes, she caught a glimpse of Lisbet scouring her trunk for stuff, her thin body bent over the massive luggage. "Oh, do you need help?" she asked in her soft voice. Chelsea was still deep asleep close to her mistress and didn't stir when Melly sat up and stretched as she yawned. She took a quick peak outside and saw that the sky was still so dark, giving her no clue as to where they were.

C (beyondtheveil) | 354 comments "Nah, I''m good," Lisbet chattered absentmindedly as she tossed things all about the cramped carriage. As a woolen tunic collided with the wall, she turned around. "Hey, have you got a watch?" Lisbet inquired, "I reckon it's got to be at least seven by now, huh?" As she said this, her palm met fabric, and she looked down. "Eureka!" She exclaimed in delight as she found herself grasping a heavy black fabric. Underneath, she saw a haphazard pile of her clothing. "If you'll excuse me, Melly, I need to go to the lavatory to change." And she slipped out of the compartment.

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) Melly watched Lisbet with amusement as she fumbled through her things, thinking that meeting this Ravenclaw was probably the best part of her whole trip. She nodded at the blonde girl and once she had disappeared into the washroom to change, Melly thought she'd do the same. Placing her shawl down over Chelsea, she pulled out her own robes that had been tightly wrapped in her knapsack and slipped them on over her knitted dress and snapped them together near her pale throat. And done, she thought to herself with a small smile as she casually picked up the tunic that was laying on the ground. Folding it, she placed it back inside Lisbet's trunk.

[Exit Melly Zielinski to Hogsmeade Platform.]
