Carriage 3: Compartment C

Sam too looked up at the avian-inclined feline; she had never before encountered such a peculiar. utterly adorable animal before, and she had thought she knew pretty much all that there was to know about cat behaviour, having grown up around them, in addition to the close bond she now shared with Nym. Knowing that he would not like it, she lifted her left arm slightly in Pablo's direction. 'C'mon handsome, it's ok.' she intoned gently. Nym, sensing an absence of petting meowled loudly, but she ignored him. 'Fly down Pablo, we all want to meet you.'

"Pablo, come down here or no salmon jerky tonight," he warned his cat sternly. Of course his pet liked the same food as Nathan's owl, Icarus. It was a matter of competition for the cat. Pablo turned his head slowly like an owl would and glancing down at his master, he cat-hooted again and then suddenly--and very gracefully, like a cat--he climbed down from the luggage compartment and only once he had reached the ground, did he walk over to Jason and the other kids on his hind legs, standing upright, again mimicking an owl.

Jinx clapped a hand over her mouth, shocked by the creature into a moment of silence. Then she collapsed against Jason's shoulder, unable to contain her fitful giggles.

Ayden lifted a small finger to point at the ridiculous animal. "He..." The boy trailed off, stunned, staring up at Jason with his mouth open.

While the other's attention was fixed upon the peculiar bird, Sam reached into her uppermost coat pocket, and carefully withdrew the gold bound notebook in which she jotted down her observations; the names of her three new friends and set about embellishing her notes with a quick sketch of their profiles; while she was at school, she could enchant her barn owl quill to commit don onto paper the contents of her thoughts. Small events such as these merited small notations but for major events, she required her pensieve. "Well that's not something you forget easily." Smiling she reached into her pocket and pulled out a tuna treat, holding it out to the bipedal cat. "Oh shush Nym, you have plenty." she chided her cat who meowed plaintively at her, clearly troubled about another cat getting his nibbles. "C'mon Pablo, nice fish, you want some?"

The treat was the cat's undoing and he promptly meowed properly and pounced up to Sam's foot to nip at the food, careful not to bite her fingers.

Jason rolled back onto the bench, Jinx's contagious laughter spurring his own on as he watched his cat's bipolar personalities shifting to and from his split identities.

Ayden and Jinx stared, slack-jawed, at the cat. For once, the two children were speechless. Unfortunately, the two people sharing the compartment with them did not yet know the twins well enough to truly appreciate the moment.

September 1st: The train has arrived at Hogsmeade Station and all students have unloaded onto the platform, dressed in their robes.
