The corridor that connects the eight compartments of Carriage 2.

Emma | 256 comments [Ender Jude Lazar and Lori Lazar from Platform 9¾]

"So, want to sit with me?" Jude offered, as he always did. Other than when they were first-years, she had always said no. "Nah, it's okay." Lori told him, following tradition. "You can go find your Gryffindor friends, I don't mind."
"Alright then," Jude handed Lori the bag he had been holding for her and walked into one of the compartments. Lori smiled and waved at him before entering the first carriage.

Lisbet tripped along the narrow corridor, lugging her heavy, cumbersome trunk behind her. Pausing to press herself against the wall, in order to allow a pair of giggling second-years to pass by her, she sighed. All the carriages seemed to be full, and here she was, pulling her behemoth of a trunk along this tiny space. It was highly unlikely that she would find an empty compartment at this time.

Her stomach grumbled, and she smiled ruefully. The snack trolley would be here soon, and she hadn't gotten a chance to extract her money from her rucksack yet. Hitching the strap of the bag higher up on her shoulder, she grasped the handle of the trunk again, and, exerting a great effort, began to pull her trunk up the corridor once again, in her futile search for an empty compartment.

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) [Enter Melly Zielinski.]

Hating goodbyes, Melly had left the orphanage early--before dawn--so as not to wake the little children or to make the nurses cry. She had walked to the train station, her sole backpack on her tiny shoulders and Chelsea tucked close to her chest, secured with a shawl like a newborn babe. The kitten was sleeping comfortably against her still and Melly had just stepped onto the train to find a compartment for the ride to Hogwarts (she had been loafing around the city in the meantime) when she saw a petite blonde struggling to carry her massive trunk.

Smiling softly to herself, Melly picked up her pace and without introducing herself or asking for permission, she lifted the other end of the luggage by the handle before saying, "Here, let me help you. Which compartment are you looking for?"

Sweat glistening on her now ruddy face, Lisbet looked up to see a pixie-like girl with a waterfall of shockingly pink hair. "What?" She said, dropping her luggage on her foot. Hissing with pain, she quickly grabbed her booted foot, massaging the toe she had inadvertently injured, and letting loose a barely audible stream of swear words. Nearly losing her balance , Lisbet shot out a thin arm to steady herself, and looked again at the girl, who was still standing there.

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) When the thin blonde yelped in pain, Melly gave her the moment she needed to compose herself and seeing that she was more hurt than Melly had originally suspected, the young Hufflepuff gently placed her end of the trunk down on the ground and walking calmly over to the blonde girl, took her arm just in time as she nearly toppled over, saying, "There now, are you alright?" Melly patted the girl's hand comfortingly with her own tiny one and gave her a small, reassuring smile. "Can I help you find a seat?" she asked again, her knowing eyes unwavering from the blonde's aggravated face.

With a small sigh, Augustine walked down the train, anxiously fingering the hems of her long sleeves. She always hated this part, trying to find a seat, because if she didn't find someone she knew, she'd end up sitting by herself, and as the train filled up, strangers.

s•u•n•s•h•i•n•e «§KENZ§» | 1149 comments There were a few people in most of the compartments already as August worked her way forward from the back of the car. By the time she got to the front compartment, she was desperate enough to have the courage to ask the seventh years, who she vaguely knew through Bradley, if she could sit with them.

[Exit August Xardel to Carriage 2: Compartment A.]

message 9: by C, Head of Gryffindor (new)

C (beyondtheveil) | 354 comments "Yeah, I'd appreciate that," Lisbet said, still clutching her throbbing foot, "But, the compartments are all full, aren't they?" She was a bit startled by the other girl's calmness and composure. Now, she studied the girl's face carefully. It was round and small, with a doll-like aura. Her coral hair framed its curves, making it appear even smaller and more diminutive than it actually was. Suddenly, taken aback by the fact that she'd neglected to say hello, Lisbet leaned her elbow against the wall to support her foot, and stuck out her other hand in her usual matter-of-fact manner. "My name's Lisbet Pedersen. I'm in Ravenclaw, fourth year," she intoned her odd little voice, "Who are you?"

message 10: by ๖ۣۜSαᴙαh (new)

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) "They are not all full," Melly replied in her knowing voice. "I can bring you to an empty one," she continued, knowing that the blonde girl was scrutinizing her appearance to which she allowed her to do without interruption. When she finally introduced herself, the cherry blossom haired girl accepted Lisbet's long, bony hand and shook it with her own small one, again holding hands. "I'm Melly," she said simply. "Hufflepuff, year five. Shall we?" she queried as she walked back around to grab the other end of the trunk.

message 11: by C, Head of Gryffindor (new)

C (beyondtheveil) | 354 comments "'Kay, just give me a second," Lisbet said as she clenched her free fist around the other side of the trunk. Continuing her usual scrutiny of a new entity, she perceived that Melly's voice seemed s bit spacey and off-kilter. Dreamy, some would say. She seemed like a nice girl. Grinning benignly, Lisbet made an attempt at conversation, "So, um, where're you from? I usually live in good old England during the school year. For my studies, y'know?" She paused, and went on, "However, I loathe Cannes. I've got to stay there in the summer, with my stuffy parents, and I simply can't stand it."

message 12: by ๖ۣۜSαᴙαh (new)

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) "I'm from London," Melly replied as she began to move forward, trying her best not to shove the gangly Ravenclaw but it was hard to lead from the back. "Born and raised," she elaborated in her lilty voice. Chelsea, still strapped to her mistress's chest in the flimsy shawl mewled lightly at the shift of Melly's body but kept her eyes closed. "What's wrong with Cannes?" she asked, regarding Lisbet intently.

message 13: by C, Head of Gryffindor (new)

C (beyondtheveil) | 354 comments "Cannes is awful," Lisbet intoned theatrically, "There's nothing to do there. My parents insist upon dragging me there every year." Suddenly, noticing the cat curled up in Melly's shawl, she gasped. "She's adorable!" Lisbet shrieked as she halted abruptly, leaning over to stroke the cat's fur, "Wherever did you get her? I'm a sucker for animals."

message 14: by ๖ۣۜSαᴙαh (last edited Nov 16, 2013 08:24PM) (new)

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) "Ah, well, nothing to do can certainly make a place awful," Melly agreed sympathetically. Lisbet's sudden halt jolted Melly somewhat and although the trunk made contact with her thighs, she gave the blonde a sweet smile. "I found her abandoned in an alley by my orphanage," she explained. "You may hold her if you want," she told the Ravenclaw. "Once we're inside a compartment?" she added patiently.

message 15: by C, Head of Gryffindor (new)

C (beyondtheveil) | 354 comments "Oh, yeah, 'kay," Lisbet said, coming out of her reverie. Giving the purring feline one last radiant smile, she leaned back briskly and said, "'Bout how far is this compartment from where we are now? This monstrosity's so heavy that I wouldn't want to burden you with carrying it much farther." Something outside the window suddenly caught her eye, and she turned her head slowly to face it. The landscape beyond the icy glass of the window had darkened, and fat, rain-saturated clouds were rolling slowly, but in thick strips, across the formerly blue sky.

message 16: by ๖ۣۜSαᴙαh (new)

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) "Compartment H is empty which is unfortunately all the way at the end," Melly replied as she then shook her head, her coral colored locks moving along her narrow shoulder. "Don't worry, Lisbet, I can manage," she told the lanky Ravenclaw with a small smile. As they began to move down the corridor, Melly followed her new friend's gaze out towards the windows. She sighed longingly when she saw the rain--she always loved rain. There was nothing better than watching it from inside when you were all warm and cozy. "Here we are," Melly announced when they had reached the compartment in question which was indeed still empty. She opened the door and began to walk backwards inside.

[Exit Melly Zielinski to Carriage 2: Compartment H.]

message 17: by C, Head of Gryffindor (new)

C (beyondtheveil) | 354 comments Sighing in relief, Lisbet followed Melly into the compartment, giving the gloomy, sombre landscape one last glance. The open highlands of Scotland were the most beautiful place in the world, to her. They housed the only place she'd ever felt accepted, Hogwarts. With a jolt of pain, she remembered the neglect she'd suffered as a child. Her parents had once even forgotten that she needed to eat, resulting in near-starvation. Bitterly, she cursed her parents. If she'd been born to another household, she might've had a chance at being loved, coddled, adored. Shooing away her miserable thoughts, she turned and shut the door of the compartment.

[Exit Lisbet Pedersen to Carriage 2: Compartment H.]

s•u•n•s•h•i•n•e «§KENZ§» | 1149 comments [Enter Evander August from Carriage 3 Corridor, message 2.]

Away from his overly-excited siblings, Evander found himself able to heave a sigh of relief. Already, he could tell his blood pressure was falling to normal levels. He was convinced those two would be the death of him.

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) [Enter Alice Keenam.]

As she maneuvered her way onto the train with her small bag (the rest of her things were currently being stored in Jamie's cabin), Alice readjusted the bag on her slim shoulder as she caught sight of a familiar, lone figure walking in front of her. With a small smile, Alice picked up her step and reaching out a slender hand, she placed it gently on the boy's shoulder and greeted the younger Ravenclaw in a soft voice, "Hello, little Evander. How are you?"

s•u•n•s•h•i•n•e «§KENZ§» | 1149 comments "Alice!" the boy exclaimed upon turning around to put a face to the hand on his shoulder. "I am good. How are you? It's so good to see you! How was your summer?"

message 21: by ๖ۣۜSαᴙαh (new)

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) "Very well, sweetheart," Alice replied, her smile pulling on her already wide mouth. "Summer was lovely--my home is always lovely," she said with a sigh as she thought about Wales. "How was yours?" she asked, releasing her hand as her long, flowing sleeve waved with the movement.

s•u•n•s•h•i•n•e «§KENZ§» | 1149 comments "Oh. Well..." Evander's face fell a little as he thought about his summer. He wasn't particularly fond of spending that much time with his parents, or being cooped up with the twins. They had boundless energy, and they frequently made him the subject of their attention if they ever found themselves bored. "Let's just say I'm glad to be going back to Hogwarts," he said finally, finding his smile once more.

message 23: by ๖ۣۜSαᴙαh (new)

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) Alice gave him a sympathetic smile, having heard the boy's confessions about his parents in years gone by in the Tower. "And Hogwarts will be glad to have you back too," she told him sweetly. "I know I'm glad to be back too. I haven't seen Jamie for more than two weeks this summer," she sighed, referring to her brother who was also the Hogwarts groundskeeper.

s•u•n•s•h•i•n•e «§KENZ§» | 1149 comments "Isn't he the groundskeeper this year?" Evander queried, dismayed to see the smile vanish from her face as she mentioned her brother. Alice was a beautiful person, inside and out, and Evander was convinced with all his heart that she deserved to always be happy.

message 25: by ๖ۣۜSαᴙαh (new)

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) "Yes," Alice replied, giving Evander another small smile. Adjusting her gossamer, pale pink scarf around her neck, she glanced up then to see the rain falling heavily against the closed windows and hoped that it would still be raining when they arrived at Hogwarts. "It looks like they like him and will probably keep him permanently," she said, happy for her brother. "Which compartment were you going to?" she asked Evander. "Mind if I join you? I wouldn't want to intrude," she told him solemnly, knowing that kids didn't always want older kids around them all the time. He'd get enough of that at Hogwarts.

s•u•n•s•h•i•n•e «§KENZ§» | 1149 comments "No, I don't mind at all!" he said hurriedly. He fell quiet, and a sheepish look overcame his pale features. The look was quickly explained. "Actually, I hadn't decided where I was going, yet."

message 27: by ๖ۣۜSαᴙαh (new)

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) "Great," Alice replied as she secretly thought to herself that his expression was adorable. Knowing better than to mention it though, she ignored it and simply said, "Oh, this one is empty. Shall we?" she asked, arching one of her dark brown brows as she opened the door of the compartment and stepped inside.

[Exit Alice Keenam to Carriage 2: Compartment E.]

s•u•n•s•h•i•n•e «§KENZ§» | 1149 comments Evander dared to offer her a grin, and slipped inside behind her. He was going to get to spend the whole train ride with Alice Keenam! He couldn't wait to tell his friends; she was one of the coolest people at the school.

[Exit Evander August to Carriage 2: Compartment E.]

s•u•n•s•h•i•n•e «§KENZ§» | 1149 comments September 1st: The train has arrived at Hogsmeade Station and all students have unloaded onto the platform, dressed in their robes.
