Gena Showalter's new writing style

I was wondering how everyone felt about Gena's new writing style. I love The Lords of the Underworld series and her Alien Huntress series. Since she changed her style and is now writing more PG-13 young adult, do you still look forward to her next release? I was so disappointed with Kane's book from LOTU that I'm not sure if I will spend my time or money on anymore releases. Should she change her gene? Is she still considered PR?? I wished she would of finished the LOTU series before the change...

All in all I am still hanging onto her books. I think she is pushing her alice zombie books more cause they dont seem to be as popular as her Underworld series. I am just waiting for Torin's book really. All the other lords just seem to be sidekicks.
I was really disappointed with the closed door action in Beauty Awakened. I didn't realize this went for all her books. I say end the series, don't mess with it.
I'm not buying her books anymore, to be honest. For me, it isn't just the lack of sex in them; I cannot deal with being preached at in a romance book. It's why I don't read inspirational/Christian romance. Kane's book was definitely more toned down than Beauty Awakened, but jeez, I was really scared there for a minute. I am glad she is excited about her new faith, but I feel like she is kinda doing a bait-and-switch. I mean, if she wants to do light, sex-less romance, she should start another series, but don't completely change the script on books that are notoriously hot and steamy! I am still a fan of her older works, and if I see from reviews that she heads back into real, hot sex and steamy, non-Jesusy romance, then I might start buying her stuff again, but right now, no.
Ms. Showalter has a new series with Pocket that RT Book Reviews gave the second book, Black and Blue, a 4 1/2 starred review this month and gave it a HOT rating. According to RT, their HOT rating = Ranges from conventional lovemaking to explicit sex. I haven't read this series yet so I can't tell you how hot the scenes are but you could check out other reader's reviews. ~ Kim S.
It's true that I was pretty disappointed with some of her latest books such as Beauty Awakened, The Darkest Craving (which for the love of God couldn't bring myself to finish) and Last Kiss Goodnight but I said to myself to give her one more try so I read Black and Blue and ... it was like the old Gena again. I really liked it, plus it was from the world of Alien Huntress which for some inexplicable reason doesn't have any more contracted books...! YES Harlequin I'm talking to YOU!

I used to love her stuff now not so much.I imagine it is hard finding you want to think about life differently but you know my issue is why can't Christianity be passionate? It seems like that type of passion could make LOTU be a better series.
Anyway I agree with the others I am not a fan of being preached to and I am fine with less sex as long as there is a good story.

Yeah but it's no fun for readers who were looking forward to her future books. It really puts a damper on the series as a whole.
I didn't know about the changes in her personal life so this is the first I'm hearing about her new approach to her writing. I only recently discovered the LOTU series and I've been blazing through it so I can be caught up for the new release next year. Maybe I'll try to ration it out now to make the "old" writing last a little longer... Was Kane's book the first one that felt really different?I'd also been holding off on some of her other series so they could tide me over until Torin's book release in the fall. I was really excited about her Angels of Dark series, but now I'm not so sure... Anyone input on that one?
I didn't care for the Angels in the Dark. It was very preachy to me. I don't like to mix my religion with my PR reading. I love to read PR as an escape and enjoy the sexy Alphas. I like some story with my sex in reading and Gena was one of my favorites I first discovered ( Kresley Cole was my first and still my #1). LOTU is a great series. She starts to make a change with Paris's book and in Kanes book there is no denying the writing has changed.

What I miss most in the newer books is the comedy before it was funny not always haha but you know amusing and now it is all 'embrace life and happiness'...'all shall be well'...' you shall be healed' yada yada
I just hope she finds some balance cuz I loved the old Gena and I want to like the new one but so far it is meh

Oh wow. I am reading the LOTU series for the first time and am enjoying it immensely. I am currently on Paris's story and I have been thrilled that I am close to catching up. Sorry to hear that Kane's story has not been a favorite of her fans.
