Today on my Facebook page, a father from France wrote to me saying he had just finished reading Parenting School-Age Twins and Multiples (it was translated into French about a year ago) and wanted to know if I could recommend any other books for single parents. Although PSAT&M did include a few sections on parenting multiples solo, it wasn't nearly enough. My heart goes out to this man (he said his wife left three years ago), and I told him I do a little investigating.

Anyone have any suggestions of good books for single parents, perhaps ones geared towards parents of multiples?

Hi Christina - Let me give this some thought. Off the top of my head, Emotionally Healthly Twins by Dr. Joan Friedman comes to mind. However, it doesn't deal with single parenting it does bring up the topic of fathers and twins.

I'm guessing since the man contacted you he doesn't require the book to be in French. Am I right to assume that?

He wrote to me in English so I assume he can read and understand it well enough. Thanks for the recommendation. If you can think of any other books, just post. I also found a few interesting message boards that may be of help, including the one at Twins magazine.

Gina (ginalala) | 4 comments I was just looking at my list of "To Read" books and discovered "The Art of Parenting Twins: The Unique Joys and Challenges of Raising Twins and other Multiples" by Patricia Malmstrom, Janet Poland.

In the review it mentions a chapter on single parenting multiples: "An excellent chapter provides help in coping with difficulties--financial problems, single parenthood, divorce, twin loss, and disability. The authors provide intensely practical details on twin care, especially for babies (yes, they stress, you can breastfeed multiples). "

Maybe the father from France will find something helpful in this book.
