I don't want to go into all the gory details on a public forum but suffice to say I've been registered as self-employed with HMRC for several years, so that bit + UTR was already taken care of. I had no idea a UTR could have been used for US tax - first I've heard of that possibility.

Will check out the w8-BEN(E) as I haven't received the EIN thru the post yet. Thanks!

Marc Secchia (marcsecchia) | 16 comments Sorry to add just one more question - do you declare ALL earnings under your normal self-employment pages, or do some earnings (US, Aus, CA, DE?) come under the 'foreign earnings' section in the tax return? And only income arising in the UK separately? Any closet tax consultants out there :-)?

Interesting question Marc.
I'm in the US and I had never thought of treating income from overseas sales any differently. It is not a large amount, but I have just included it along with the domestic income.
