Laney could have cried from relief when the video moniter that had been in her rat-infested room had switched off with Jim finally finding the camera but she was in too much pain. Her ordeal was coming to an end one way or another with either one brother or the other deciding her and her newly born child's fate.
Bruce and the soldiers and marines begin to conduct an assault on the warehouse area while Jim sneaks in
Laney held her baby girl in her arms, resigned to the fact that Mason would probably come in at any moment and kill her. She couldn't help hoping Jim would find her first but with her in chains she didn't have much hope.
Mason came in and unchained her your coming with me and if you try to run I'll kill you and your kid he said as he dragged her out of the room and moving through the open area in the warehouse then a shot rings out and a bullet skims masons arm
Laney bit her tongue so she didn't scream and held her baby close.
"Jim!" Laney cried, turning towards him. She started crying, so happy to see him after two months of only seeing him on the stupid screen.
The baby woke up and started crying and Laney tried to shush her quickly, afraid of what Mason would do if she couldn't quiet her.
Mason looked over Mason:shut that dam baby up or I will
Jim:you lay one finger on her and I put a bullet between your eyes
Laney flinched away from Mason and got the child to stop as quickly as she could. She tried to stay calm but was on the edge of breaking. It had been two months of torment and she was so ready for t to be over.
Jim started to take off the equipment that was on him
Laney looked between the two brothers and tried to inch away from Mason towards Jim.
I been waiting for so long brother mason said
She kept the baby quiet by rocking her back and forth slowly and unnoticeably so as not to attract Mason's attention which was locked on Jim.
Laney was almost out of Mason's reach by now and the baby had fallen back asleep.
Then mason and Jim ran at each other mason threw some punches but Jim countered them
"Be careful Jim!" She cried when they broke apart for only a moment to size each other up again.
Mason went at him again but Jim countered again
There was still gunfire blasting from every direction and the only place which seemed safe from stray bullets was near the brothers.
Jim took out his knife mason still came at him but Jim cut him with the knife
Laney was watching the fight apprehensively and hoping her child stayed silent.
Then when Jim's arm was out mason grabbed it and broke it causing Jim to let out a painful scre and fell to the ground
Why do you fight a losing battle brother mason said as he stepped closer to Jim
"Stop hurting him!" She cried, wrapping her tail around his feet and yanking them out from under him.
Mason then rolled over and pulled out a gun and shot her in the shoulder he got up no!!jim screamed he got up and rubbed at mason grabbing him and running him into a pillar with a metal rod sticking out the rod went through mason
Laney went down, clutching her baby. She was pale and bleeding out onto the floor though at least she wasn't bleeding on the child. She was already weak from having little food and even less water added to the physical abuse from Mason and his men.
"J-jim. Our-r d-daughter's name is Alice." She said haltingly, she didn't know if she would survive this and she wanted him to know.
Jim ran over to laney stay with me laney stay with me
"..... So.... tired......" She murmured, her eyes closing as she bled out at an astonishing rate.
He pressed his hands on the wound your not dying on me dammit you hear me
"T-trying..... my best." She mumbled, her tail drooping.
He grabbed a couple of patches and puts it over the wound
Her scales looked dull and her head lolled back. "Al.......ice." She murmured before passing out.
He got up and walked over to masonMason:your making a mistake brother why help her leave her like you did to me
Jim:I kept your promise mason if you die leave your body on the field
He called in Bruce and jerry to help with laney
"Jim what about.... Alice?" Bruce asked after almost ten minutes of silence.
Bruce nodded hesitantly and motioned for the others to move out.
they got laney to a medic and blood was being pumped into her
She was weak and the blood was only barely helping, she was still losing too much.
Jim:seal that wound Soldier: yes sir the soldier began to seal the wound
Alice wiggled her tail innocently as she looked up at her daddy.Laney's heart beat weakly then stopped.
Soldier:we're losing herHe tries every method to revive her
After almost losing her for good her heart began to beat again and they kept her breathing with a machine.
Jim sighed with relief knowing she was improving he then looked down at his daughter
Alice had opened her eyes and was reaching up for him with her tiny little hands.
