She sighed as his warm touch sent shivers and sensations through her nerves to her very core. Every touch from him was warm and comforting, and seemed to send her drifting away from this apocalyptic wasteland. "Ohh I don't care" she sighed((Lol ok))
"You are a very different woman off of the battlefield, or so it seems" he commented. she was a completely different person it seemed, she had let her gaurd down.
"Ohh. I'm only this way when I'm by myself" she breathed in the grass. "Because I am. You're just make believe. A figure of my imagination" she sighed.
"I see." Ezra said debating on whether or not to convince her this was reality, that angels did exist, but maybe it should stay this way. it was best if she thought this was all a figment of her imagination. "you must have a very creative imagination" he said
She sighed and nodded, looking up at him. "I suppose. It's really to bad you don't really exist though" she whispered, her eyes on him.
"or maybe I really do exist..." Ezra said quietly and slid his hand over hers resting it threw. he leaned towards her "you really don't think I exist?"
"hmm whatever you may want to believe then, whatever makes you happy " he said shaking his head slightly. "since you are imagining all if this what would you want to do?"
She smirked and laughed a little, sitting up as she watched him intently. "I'd rather not say... In front of an angel"
"I'm sure it wouldn't surprise me" Ezra said his eyes trailing over her body slowly, taking her all in. it had been a long time since he had felt this way, too long, though the memories afterward still burned in his mind.
"Well" she picked up her weapon and stood, brushing herself off. "I need to head back.." She whispered with little conviction.
"you are very far away" he said and shook his head slightly. Ezra stood "will you let me take you back at least?"
Ezra looked right back Into her beautiful eyes and took a step closer to her. he leaned towards her slightly and kissed her lips softly. He at least needed that to hold onto. "do you believe in angels?" he whispered into her ear. then there was a they of wind everything was a blur and their surroundings turned into the old abandoned city once again. then he was gone.
She gasped and looked around, her eyes searching desperately for him. "Ezra?" She called in whispers.
Ezra was no where to be found in her general surrounds. he had shot straight up, high into the sky, the air cold against this skin. he kept on telling himself that he should never come back but he knew he could stay away from here. if he went to heaven he was sure to be punished for all of the rules he had broken. he heard her whispers and it took all of his willpower not to go swooping down back next to her side
She frowned in a sort of panic and fright. Was she going nuts? No. That kiss had definitely been real. She ran her fingers over her lips and sighed, swallowing as she raised her weapon again.
Ezra flew above the clouds not wanting to leave til he knew she was in a safer place rather. he kept his senses alert deep in thought of what to do next
She felt it. Her heart tearing. She called his name again, quietly, timidly, desperately. "Ezra?" She whispered, chewing on her lip
Ezra frowned feeling as if he could be hurting her by staying away, then again it was probably best. "Sawyer, don't worry ill be back soon" his voice echoed, seeming to come from everywhere but in reality it was only in her head.
She looked around warily and nodded, making the long trudge back to the barracks. It was an in eventful night and she was thankful when she finally crawled into her bunk.
Ezra thought a lot over what he was getting himself into and over what had happened in the past. that would haunt him forever, but experiencing these feelings again made him almost feel human. openly walking into a situation that could quite possibly end up bad. over a month passed before Ezra returned, a new uniform threw to cover his wings again. it was easy for him getting into the barracks now and he slipped into an empty bunk that happen to be near hers. her presence calmed him greatly making his worries fade away
It was early morning and she woke before the rest. They had a mission today and she needed to grease the barrel of her sniper rifle. She walked out, glancing up at the cool morning sun. She sighed and went to work.
Ezra sighed softly as she left and debated on following her or not. after she went he slowly and silently slid out of the bunk following her
She worked as she sat on a grassy crest out of view of the camp, overlooking the city. She sighed as she went on with her work, thinking of her home, and her horses. And Ezra. He had to be real. She had told no one, though she knew he was. He just had to be.
Ezra watched her from a distance taking in her beauty, he had missed her so Much, he walked up behind her being very quiet. he leaned forward "boo" he said into her ear a smile on his face
She jumped up and immediately aimed at him, yet lowered her rifle a moment later. "Y..you..." she touched his face, as if to assure she wasn't seeing things.
"yes, it's me. sorry for startling you, I couldn't resist" Ezra said. he reached up and slid her hand into his instead of touching his face now. "I'm here, And I'm very real" he said his eyes on her face taking in every detail
"Why did you... how did you just...." she seemed unable to form a complete sentence as her other hand rested on his chest, taking in his warming presence. It was like he was the sun itself. "You disappeared" she breathed.
Ezra sighed softly "I know... I just had to, I needed room to think." he said with an apologetic look on his face "I know I haven't given you much reason to trust me... but if I asked you to come with me.... would you?" he asked looking into her eyes, almost as if he was searching for her answer there.
"I..." she set her rifle on the ground and looked at him in a worried way. "I..." Yet how could she not? "Yes" she whispered finally, taking his hand.
"good, because we need to get out of here very soon" he said and started leading her away from this place, just walking for now. on top of thinking while he was gone he had done quite a bit of spying, the majority of the United States would probably become a nuclear wasteland within the next week and he couldnt risk losing her. he could not suffer from that kind of loss again.
"Wait. Leave...forever?" she stopped walking and looked around. "I can't do that. This is my home" she whispered in hesitancy.
"you don't understand! there won't be anything left here!" he said keeping a firm grasp on her hand "you will die if you stay here." he said hoping she would come with him willingly.
"I can't leave them! They're my people! My friends! You can do something...talk to God! He can't be okay with this!" she pleaded frantically.
"you don't understand god! if I followed his rules I wouldn't even be here! I wouldn't be saving you, touching you, and I definitely wouldn't be talking to you, even if he didn't want the whole United States out he wouldn't be ave to do Much of anything about it" Ezra said frowning, he really didn't care about the rest of the humans anyways, only her "you must come with me... its the only way..."
"Ezra I..." she knew she had feelings for him, but she couldn't leave them all to die, and she struggled futily in his grasp as tears rolled down her face and she cried out.
ezra sighed softly, despite her attempts to get away he pulled her to him "I won't make you..." he whispered softly rubbing hee back And staring at the ground. he figured if he did force her away she would be mad at him, maybe it was worth the risk of trying to evacuate everyone, if it meant saving her as well it was worth it. "Sawyer..." he said softly trying to soothe her
After a while her breathing calmed, and she pressed her forehead to his chest before looking into his eyes. "Yes?" she whispered, her brows knit in worry.
"what if we warn everyone..." he said quietly looking back into hers wishing he hadnt upset her like this, that she didn't care about these other humans and didn't mind leaving things behind to save her own life. on earth everything had to be so complicated
"then they would practically be committing suicide. I can't let you die." Ezra said and pressed his forehead against hers
Ezra hated to see her cry, hated how upset he had made her, but this needed to be done. "I can take you somewhere safe and you won't have to worry about any of this" he said softly and reached up to wipe a tear away that had dripped down to her chin.
"I...okay. Fine," she breathed, looking up and meeting his eyes as she smiled weakly. "Okay Ezra" she breathed.
Ezra smiled weakly and kissed her on the lips softly glad she finally agreed with him, that she would be safe.
She stepped closer and pressed her head against his chest, closing her eyes and pulling his hands to her.
Ezra wrapped his arms around her "everything will be okay." he whispered to her softly. he kinda wished he was a.normal guy not an Angel, had pulled her in with his own features, not angelic ones. but that's not how it was and things couldn't change now
