I am Number Four was interesting with lots of action, but this book has more character development and back story, but it is slow and boring with almost no action for the first half of the book.

Chapter 21: I am not loving Marina's story line. (view spoiler)[It's too slow and Adelina's attitude is annoying and Marina's frustration is understandable, but not enjoyable to read. (hide spoiler)]

The Four story line is all about the awkward (view spoiler)[love triangle between John, Sam and Six OR John, Six and Sarah. Take your pick, they are both not interesting. I always hate stories about true love and then they are attracted to someone else. (hide spoiler)]

Finally after 250 pages it picks up and is so much more interesting. I didn't really like Four as much as in the last book and Marina wasn't very compelling either.

My favorite character were (view spoiler)[ Marina's friends, Hector & Ella and Nine. (hide spoiler)]

Both battles relied on (view spoiler)[dumb luck and outside help. I liked the last minutes Guarde reveals. Ella was just so sweet, but I do hope she gets a cool, powerful legacy. Nine sounds a little like a show off, but he sounds like a good fighter and they are going to need it. Oh no, poor Sam. Maybe he'll find his dad.

I'm glad they have a Cepan-like adult to help and instruct them. (hide spoiler)]

For me Pittacus Lore(James Frey) is really good at writing action stuffs but when it comes to love plots. . . well I just want to puke :3

I guess I liked the adrenaline rush and action in the first book more than the character development.

Yeah the love plot or hints at whatever just kinda slump you know you expect something more and he gives you a breathe of it then it's over again, I love the way the actions written but I prefer a good mix of both romance and action not hints really
