11 hours on the computer?

Dee, I have a Blackberry Z10 with the problem being that it seems that you have to download an application which then enables you to download the book directly (from your phone) - I think I understood it correctly :)
My phone contract does not support that much data every month (I live in South Africa and our cellphone contracts have a certain amount of data usage every month - mine being only about 250mb for the whole month). If I could transfer the file via an usb cable . . .
My MP3 player is a Sansui. I think the brand is a bit less known. I plugged in the player on my laptop but the Audible Manager program did not recognize it (I tried a few options).
Becky, Emily, I have thought about emailing them but have found quite a few comments while googling saying that they do not support all devices and have resigned myself to that fact.

I use my computer to listen a lot of the time. There's no worry about running out of battery while it's plugged in and where I have it placed allows me to hear it in most rooms. I recently received a wireless speaker for my birthday which expands the range where I can hear it. I get tired of earphones so I actually enjoy the free-range listening experience. If playing the books aloud would inconvenience others, there are wireless headphones.

I find that it's best to have a piece of equipment dedicated to audiobooks because then you have lots of space to download the books. That said, the way Audible works you don't have to download any more than the one(s) you want to listen to straight away - the rest stay in your library in the Cloud.
I don't think there is a Blackberry app any more - I looked for one and I think I found that it had been discontinued a while ago but the two technologies simply weren't compatible.

Does Audible even have an app for Blackberry?

I've used iPods and Sansas, and while I know a lot of people like the Sansa, I had a bad experience so would recommend an iPod. If you don't want to spend the money on a Touch, I used Nanos for years and they worked perfectly well.

How did you download to a Nano? I love the look of them but I didn't think you could get the Audible app on them.
I wanted to download by Wi-fi direct to the device because downloading to my Macbook and then onto a device seems to be a bit complicated.

Only some of the Kindles have loudspeakers and headphone sockets. Paperwhites don't have audio. My old Kindle keyboard does, and I have used it for audiobooks (before I got my iPod) - best with headphone as speakers are very small. The Kindle Fires all do and the descriptions refer specifically to Audible audiobooks.
If you live in a country with Whispersync matching (i.e. not just the process they use to synchronise your audiobooks over all your devices), you can get some audiobooks v cheaply once you buy the book for Kindle. Unfortunately, we don't get that in the UK.

I now use the Audible app and almost never re-listen to books, but I still download all the files to my computer, just on principle.

You might want to check with Amazon to see if it will play audio...I got my mother in law a paperwhite for christmas last year and am almost positive I downloaded some audio's to it...I may not be remembering right but it would be worth checking out
I downloaded my audio book from audible but am unable to find anything I own that is recognized by the software! Not even my smartphone or my MP3 player. The only option left is listening to the book on my computer - for 11 hours! Don't know how practical that is going to be!
I am feeling very frustrated - I am glad that I did not sign up for membership yet!
