Zach rolled his eyes at Penelope and put his hand on Ari's "don't listen to her" he whispered, peeking at what she was writing down "whats that?" He asked, pointing to the page.

Ari bit her lip and quickly closed her journal, taking her hand out from under his. "Nothing, it was nothing.." She said hurriedly and put her journal away.
"Ari..." He complained, moving so he could see her face "you know you can tell me anything" he said softly as the teacher walked in and the class settled down.
Ari looked over at him lovingly, "It's okay, it's not important." She reassured him in a whisper as class started. She pulled out her other journal and began to take notes.
He sighed, turning back to his work and starting the problems that the teacher had put up on the board. He couldn't help but feel a little upset because Ari was clearly upset but he tried to forget about it ((Time skip to next class or end of the day?))

Ari sat outside on the bench as she waited for Zach. Her earphones were in her ear and she found herself closing her eyes and letting the music flow through her. It was 'If I Ain't Got You' by Alicia Keys. It was one of her many favourite songs, and it blasted in her ears. She bit her lip to keep from singing, the world around her blocked out.

Zach walked up to Ari, smiling as she moved to the sounds of her music blaring through her headphones. He sat down beside her silently, looking up at her beautiful face "hey gorgeous" he said with a smile, remembering their convocation this morning.
Ari opened her eyes, smiling once she saw him. Slipping the headphones off and looking down at her hands, "Hey. Do you want to go to my house now or later?" She asked, her hand slowly finding his. It always made her blush every time he called her gorgeous, even though he did it all the time. This time, a faint blush still crept up on her cheeks and she looked up at him.
((Maybe the markings start to show when he turns 18. His birthday could be in a few days or so))He shrugged, smiling at her blush "depends what you were thinking of doing if we didn't go to your house now" he said, a cheeky glint in his eye.

Ari raised an eyebrow at him, "I don't know, what were you thinking of doing?" She asked and smirked. The cheeky grin on his face made her a bit curious and she bit her lip in thought.

"I thought maybe we could go to the park and just walk for a bit" he said with a smile, wanting to just talk to her "it might be nice to do" he said with another shrug.
Ari smiled, "Sure, I'd love to." She said and got up. Slinging her bag over her shoulder and holding a hand out to him, she wondered if he would ask about her song writing. Hopefully not, it wasn't something she wanted to share with anybody, ever.
He got up with a smile, putting his bag on his back and taking her dainty hand in his. They walked across the road and into the big park "so everything is ok apart from lack of sleep?" He asked, listening to their shoes crunch on the gravel path.
Ari nodded and intertwined their fingers, "Yeah, everything is fine." She murmured and squeezed his hand gently. Her eyes traveled down to their feet as they walked.
He squeezed her hand back "ok but you know that you can tell me anything?" He asked, looking at her with concern.
Ari looked back up at him and stopped walking. Turning to face him, she sighed. "I.. I know. I just... I was writing a song. I've been writing them for awhile now. I was afraid you'd ask me to sing if you saw it... I'm too scared to sing in front of anyone." She murmured and placed her hands gently on his chest as she looked up at him shamefully. "I'm sorry..."
He ran a hand softly down her cheek "what are you sorry for?" He asked "i understand what you mean. If you don't want to sing to anyone you don't have to but i hope one day you will feel comfortable enough to sing to me because i would really like it" he said softly, surprised at her hidden talent.
Ari grinned and leaned forward to kiss his cheek, "You're really sweet, but you would have to coax it out of me. It might not be easy..." She said with a mischievous grin.
He smiled cheekily back at her "yeah? I might be able to do that" he said, bitting his lip and grabbing her in a hug, her back to his chest "i'm warning you now that i will tickle you if i have to" he teased.
Ari's eyes widened, "No!" She said with a grin and looked up at him. "You know I'm ticklish, that's not fair." She murmured and turned around so that she faced him.
He shook his head with a smile "no whats not fair is my best friend not telling me that she can sing when she knows i can't and have been looking for someone to sing with me while i play my guitar for ages" he complained happily
Ari sighed and looked up into his eyes, using her puppy dog eyes on him. "But you know I'm too nervous, Zach. Pleeeeeaaassse don't make me do this." She murmured and wrapped her arms around his neck. Not that she didn't want to spend time with him, she was just afraid he wouldn't like her singing..
He smiled and wrapped his arms around her little waist "if you don't want to i won't make you Ari but think about it. I promise no matter what i wouldn't laugh or tease, i just thought it might be nice to play with you" he said gently
Ari looked up into his eyes as a playful grin broke onto her lips. "That sounded wrong, but I'll give it a try. We could do it at my house if you want? Bring your guitar with you when you come to babysit." She said with a smile and rested her head back on his chest.
He poked her nose "you have such a wrong mind" he said with a smile "but i would really like to do that. I'll go now and i'll meet you back at your house in half an hour." He said and let go of her
Ari smiled, "Okay, see you there." She said and started the short walk back to the school and to her car. Once she got there she got in her car and drove home, where her mom was already gone for work. She immediately went to her room and set down her things before going to Sophie's room and cradling her. The baby soon fell asleep and she set her down in the crib.
Zach walked home quickly and grabbed his guitar, telling is aunt that he was staying at friends tonight. Then he got in his car and drove to Ari's house. He gently knocked on the door, hoping not to wake the baby
Ari smiled and shut the door to Sophie's room as she made her way to the front door. Upon seeing Zach she felt herself smile and welcomed him inside. "I put her to sleep so we could spend some time together and maybe make some music." She said with a sweet smile as she closed the door behind him. By this time she had changed into a pair of sleeping shorts that showed her tanned legs and a long T-shirt.
"Cool" he said, making his way to the lounge room where they always spent most of their time. He put down his guitar and made himself at home on the big couch "so did you get her to sleep ok" he asked, a little worried that she was doing too much.
Ari sat next to him and gently put her head down on his shoulder. "Yes, it's fine really." She said sweetly and kissed his cheek. "You worry too much." She said softly. He always worried over her like this, yet she kind've liked it in a way. It felt nice to have someone genuinely care about her that was outside of her family.
He kissed the top of her head "but i do worry Ari. You do so much, its unfair on you" he said softly. He loved her like a sister, maybe even more than a sister but his 18th birthday had been on his mind for weeks now. He hoped it wouldn't change anything between them.
Ari sighed contentedly as she closed her eyes and kept her head on his shoulder. "You do a lot too. You're always there for me and I know that must be a lot of work. So how about we wind down from our crazy school day together?" She said sweetly and looked up at him with a soft smile.
Zach nodded "sure. What did you want to do?" He asked, looking at her beautiful face. He sometimes wondered if Ari ever wanted to get closer than they were. He was quite happy just like this, as best friends, but he wondered if the teasing and snickers from people at school ever got to her.
Ari closed her eyes for a few seconds. "Maybe we could pick a song?" She suggested and reopened her eyes to look up at him. "You brought your guitar anyways, so might as well." She said and took his hand in hers. For his 18th birthday she wanted to get him something special, and she had a great idea in mind. With a small smile, she intertwined their fingers.
He squeezed her hand lightly "ok pick a song and i will see if i know how to play it" he said, gently sitting up and getting his guitar out of its case. He sat it on his lap and strummed it once, making sure it was still tuned.
Ari bit her lip slightly as she watched him strum the guitar. She'd always loved how he could play an instrument that she hadn't learned, but she had learned some piano at a younger age. "Can we play Right there by Ariana Grande?" She asked.

((Sorry))Zach nodded with a smile, he was over the moon that Ari was going to sing with him "sure. You count in" he said, moving his fingers along the frets to the first cord position. He waited patiently for her to start because e knew that she was nervous and that she hated doing this kind of stuff in front of people.
Ari looked up at him and took a deep breath. "One, two, three, four." She said softly. As he started playing, she smiled and closed her eyes. "You got it, you got it baby... You know you make me feel so lucky, finally the stars align..." She started and continued singing with her eyes closed.
Zach smiled, watching her sing and strumming his guitar. Her voice was like honey and it flowed from her mouth and filled up the room. He had no idea that she could sing like that and he envied her gorgeous voice.
Ari finished a few minutes later. A blush crept onto her face as she turned away. "So... How am I?" She asked, expecting it to be bad.
He smiled and gently turned her chin so she was looking at him "Ari i'm speechless. Your absolutely amazing" he said truthfully.
Ari looked over at him and raised a brow, "Y-You really think so?" She asked as her hand found his and she intertwined their fingers. A smile formed on her lips, she was scared he wouldn't like it.
He nodded "yes of corse. You sing like an angel Ari" he said with a smile, squeezing their now intwined hands.
Ari smiled and pulled him into a soft hug, "I'm glad you think so, because you're a prodigy on the guitar." She murmured and kissed his cheek softly. Her heart was overwhelmed with joy and love, but she was sure it wasn't love in that way, right?
He smiled "i'm just as good on the guitar as you are at singing but i show people my talents" he teased, poking her leg
Ari pulled away from the hug and smiled at him, "That's sweet, but you know I'd rather not. I might if I have some encouragement though." She said with a wink.
Zach smiled "i'll organise the cheerleading practices right away" he teased as she pulled back. "Hey at least we didn't wake Sophie up" he said softly "i bet your singing was like a lullaby"
Ari blushed a bit, "Thanks. Anyways, it's your birthday soon. What do you want to do?" She asked and played with his hand slightly.
