Chapter 7: (view spoiler)[ I've only really been interested in the investigation bits so far. I've always loved that stuff - in fact, I want to study forensics in university. Interesting seeing how Jazz's dad plagues his thoughts. I hope we see more investigative stuff soon.

If you're into crime investigation, murder mysteries and the like, you should check out the Phoenix Wright games if you have a Nintendo DS. You gather evidence to use in court to bust the criminal, and it's pretty much an interactive novel. It's one of my favourite game series! (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 13: (view spoiler)[ I think Jazz should talk to his dad and at least find out if his dream is a memory. It seems like his dad liked talking about his killings so I feel like he'd be willing to talk about it. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 18: (view spoiler)[ So far I have 2 ideas of who the killer may be. I've been suspicious of Deputy Erickson for the whole book and now there's even more reason to be. He was apparently first on the scene for two of the murders, which means he could've tampered with evidence before anyone else got there. It's clear that the killer has received instructions on how to kill the victims, most likely from Billy Dent himself based on what Jazz said. If he's being trained to be G. William's second, then he has to have access to Dent, and since he's a Deputy I doubt there would be any guards watching a visit.

My other idea is the man who was the father of one of the victims who kept stalking Jazz. I don't really have any reason for the suspicion, he just seems kinda fishy and for some reason I don't actually think he's the father of one of the victims. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 30: (view spoiler)[ His dad is insane, not that I expected any less. What did his dad ask of him in return for his help? I'm still convinced that the killer is Erickson but the author could possibly pull a murderer right out from under my nose. What if it's his gramma or something? (hide spoiler)]

After 7 Chapters: Howie is a great Robin to Jazz's Batman. I like Jazz's girlfriend, Connie. I think Jazz has a very healthy attitude for the most part (view spoiler)[considering how he's treated in town due to his father's extracurricular activities.

The anecdote of the little boy asking Jazz why he didn't stop his father was so sad and intense.

Billy Dent: Crazy scary absentee villain. (view spoiler)[ He was just as scary when we met him as hearing about him. I was proud of Jazz for going to see him. I guess we shouldn't be surprised that Billy used Jazz. (hide spoiler)]
Connie: Tough and brave (view spoiler)[ but I was very uncomfortable when she dared Jazz to kill her. I agree with Connie that Jazz bemoans his inner darkness and how much his father messed him up too much. (hide spoiler)]
Howie: Great sidekick! (view spoiler)[ I'm so glad that he didn't die! Though shooting the shotgun might've killed him. Why didn't Connie bring the gun? I was greatly entertained with Jazz getting Howie's tattoos. (hide spoiler)]
Killer: (view spoiler)[ I liked the false trails. We have 3 suspects and each was possible. I also liked the similiar but not identical victims. The Impressionist was an unusual name for the serial killer.

I had 3 suspects (view spoiler)[ Deputy Erickson, the journalist jerk, Doug whatever and the victim's dad. I thought Erickson was too obvious, so I was actually leaning toward the journalist, cuz I had ruled out the father, because it didn't occur to me that he wasn't who he said he was. I'm so gullible.

I was impressed by how scary Billy Dent (view spoiler)[ was in reality. Poor Jazz, how could he not be screwed up with that man planting things in his head for years and years.

So Billy Dent pre-planned his escape with accomplices. I guess I'm not surprised.

I wonder if the birdbath actually attracted birds in the new location.
