I can only remember a few details, one being they are able to weave light or something like that and if they are still in the light 'rope'/'weave' when it turns night time they die or disappear... They could also travel along those 'weaves' or whatever they're called

I think there was a scene where the heroine was worried that the hero wouldn't make it back to her in time before night falls
There was also another scene where they were teaching a woman the skill because they didn't know that she had some 'magic' for it because of the blood from an ancestor or relative? And she knew/learned just enough to send a message to the main character? I think that's what it was

Oh and there is also some type of messengers that can travel those ropes of light/magic (I don't know)

Were there dragons? Because this really sounds like Melanie Rawn's Dragon Prince and Dragon Star series. There is a group of people called Sunrunners who do all of what you described.
