Janee The book The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane is a fictional book which subtly illustrates the influences of history on the modern world. The main character, Connie, discovers a mysterious name hidden in her deceased grandmother's old house. Although this is a creepy premise, the book only dives deeper into the spirit of frightening when she finds similarities between her and this name as she researches it, hoping to have discovered the perfect original source for her paper. Eventually she decides that the woman behind the name Deliverance Dane was gifted with magic and had a spell book. Incidentally while searching for Mrs. Dane's book, Connie discovers she possesses magic , as do her mother and grandmother. This is the first of many many connections she makes to Deliverance Dane. Her character massively disappointed me however, as the foreshadowing was so obvious, I was aware of the ending of the book before the end of the seventh chapter, and it was nearly physically painful to see how unaware and unobservant the main character was. She was supposedly a PhD candidate, and it was easier for me to draw conclusions and foretell the plot then her. I love this novel because it serves my desire of mystery and keeps me on edge. the first line "Tonight is the final performance of a very limited engagement" made me know instantly that i would have chills throughout the hole book
