It's a beautiful example of just how hard it is to screw up.

Marley (Marleyme95) | 5270 comments Ha...yeah. I got to the end in one click.

message 8: by Chandani (new)

Chandani (milkduds920) | 6408 comments This simply proves how ridiculous biblical god is. He has all these other options, yes he always chooses teh hardest one.

message 9: by Liz (new)

Liz (lizgore) | 3163 comments i used to be a faithful catholic but since i joined goodreads in March you have all started to corrupt me :(

now i am really starting to question

message 10: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod
That's a good thing. Question everything ever spoonfed to you.

message 11: by Sheeky (new)

Sheeky (sheekster) I dont question God because I know he's real.

message 12: by Sheeky (new)

Sheeky (sheekster) Liz you shouldn't let other beliefs ruin your faith.

message 13: by Liz (new)

Liz (lizgore) | 3163 comments i haven't gone to church in a year, but i used to say the rosary every night (didn't want to go to purgatory), but always in the back of my mind i have been questioning

jeez now if i go to hell it will be all your fault Lauren (jk)

message 14: by Marley (new)

Marley (Marleyme95) | 5270 comments No, other's proof, and you should learn to question.

message 15: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod
There is no Hell, no reason to live life in fear of one. :)

message 16: by Sheeky (new)

Sheeky (sheekster) But you dont know that Lauren. There could be a hell.

message 17: by Liz (new)

Liz (lizgore) | 3163 comments :)

message 18: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod
There also could be unicorns. Care to claim that?

message 19: by Sheeky (last edited Jun 12, 2009 04:05PM) (new)

Sheeky (sheekster) Lauren why are you so sure that there isn't a hell? One of these days when (and if) you're proven wrong, you'll regret putting all your trust and knowledge of God into Science.

message 20: by Marley (new)

Marley (Marleyme95) | 5270 comments Oh, judgemental Sheeky? Why did God allow science then, why would he purposfely lead us away from him?

message 21: by Sheeky (last edited Jun 12, 2009 04:10PM) (new)

Sheeky (sheekster) Not being judgemental Marley, I'm just stating my opinion and how I feel about this.

message 22: by Liz (new)

Liz (lizgore) | 3163 comments thanks koe i will check it out :)

message 23: by Marley (new)

Marley (Marleyme95) | 5270 comments 'Let he among us without sin cast the first stone' You just damned Lauren to hell, aren't you not suppose to do that?

message 24: by Liz (new)

Liz (lizgore) | 3163 comments i think if you didn't believe in god, but you were a good person you would get into heaven anyways (if there is a heaven)

message 25: by Liz (new)

Liz (lizgore) | 3163 comments who damned lauren to hell?

message 26: by Sheeky (new)

Sheeky (sheekster) I didn't damn Lauren to hell.......I don't think I did...

Davis (davismattek) | 3837 comments Sheeky wrote: "Lauren why are you so sure that there isn't a hell? One of these days when (and if) you're proven wrong, you'll regret putting all your trust and knowledge of God into Science."

I won't. I have resigned to the fact that if a supposed all-loving God wants to put me in hell for being logical, then so be it.

message 28: by Sheeky (new)

Sheeky (sheekster) Yes Davis, but there are times when it's ok to be illogical.

message 29: by Liz (new)

Liz (lizgore) | 3163 comments Sheeky wrote: "Yes Davis, but there are times when it's ok to be illogical. "

That one, sounded threatning.

Davis (davismattek) | 3837 comments Sheeky wrote: "Yes Davis, but there are times when it's ok to be illogical. "

No, there isn't.

message 32: by Marley (new)

Marley (Marleyme95) | 5270 comments It isn't okay to be ignorant...ever

He'd be no God anyway, if he's so small minded.

Yeah, Pascal's wager only works if you first assume one religion is correct, which isn't the case.

A) Cause he's an idiot
B) Cause he's a sadist
C) He doesn't exist

message 35: by James (new)

James Wilkinson | 205 comments You do realise that A and B are redundant because of C?

message 36: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod
For the benefit of those who don't believe c.

message 37: by James (new)

James Wilkinson | 205 comments I don't think he's an idiot. He gave up on us a long time ago. A being of sound judgement, in my opinion.

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod
No all-knowing being of sound judgment would have proceeded to create humanity if he knew what would have happened.

message 39: by James (new)

message 41: by Amy (new)

Amy Ok I just got done reading everyones posts and i don't think u should put down Sheeky just because she believes in God. I believe in God but I still have questions and I don't go to church, but I can still be Christian.

message 42: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod
What sort of questions?

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

Sheeky wrote: "I dont question God because I know he's real."

PATHETIC.

If you know he is real, you shouldn't be afraid to question him.

message 44: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod
Jefferson himself said "“Question with boldness even the existence of God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear”

Ahahaha, oh yeah. Because reading a fiction book will definitely lead to questioning the fictional characters -_-

Logical, really.

They only want you to think that, so you don't see the glaring contradictions staring you in the face from religion.
