Thia (thial) | 133 comments Just wondering, Teresa mentioned in another thread that there is an e-reader that can be configured to read to you like an audiobook. I never have time these days to read an actual book but I travel a lot and love listening to audiobooks. However a lot of the most highly recommended books in the zombie genre are not available on audio. I don't own a kindle or anything now - I listen on my Iphone. So if I were going to buy something so I could listen to books that don't have an audiobook yet are there any suggestion?
Thanks!

Randy Harmelink | 2188 comments The Kindle Touch has it:

...but not any of the new PaperWhite models. Just search the page for "read-to-me" or "text-to-speech".

It will only do that if the book is enabled to, though. You need to check the product details of the book. And, there, it has this on a book that *was* enabled:

Text-to-Speech is available for Kindle Fire HD, Kindle Touch, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle (2nd generation), and Kindle DX.

As I recall, there's a male or a female voice. And you can set the speed of reading. But it has its quirks. For example, it will read "C'mon" as "See Monday". :)

You can just toggle the read-to-me feature on and off on the same menu page for an eBook that you adjust the font. So it is on a book-by-book basis.
