No I understand perfectly :)
I only meant was it like long dresses and horsedrawn carriages. So its an older book but I would still say its contemporary.

Cherry--sometimes the "spoilers" (in this case the ending) are what finds the book.
As a result, there is a way to enter them and have them "sort of" hidden.
Type < $ poiler> the body of your spoiler < / $ poiler>
Take out the spaces and change the $ to an S. (view spoiler)
But yes, if you do remember the ending, then list it.

And that is the sweetest part in that story in my opinion. Or rather of what I can still remember. Because the hero of the story is the typical hardened cowboy. Who is protective and respectful to those he deem worthy.
Anyway, I hope this help in finding that book... I want to read it again for 10 years now.. Thank you for all the help!!
Cherry--even if it isn't ID'ed right away, just keep bumping it up. Sometimes it takes a while to find that certain someone in GR, just as in RL. But sooner or later, they will show up and ID that lost love of yours. :o)
I've had a couple of books that were only found after 3 years--and others that I'm still hopefully bumping up there, hoping that sooner or later someone else that loved the book will see my messages and tell me the name of my forgotten lost love. (And yes, I DO view my favourite books as loves.)

Thank you.. But, whats ID, GR, and RL?? sorry just new here.. And what do I do to bumping?? Sorry very ignorant..

GR = GoodReads
RL = real life
I know a lot of 'em, but NA had me baffled for a while. (Turns out to be New Adult.)

Cherry - to "bump" it, every month or so find this thread, and make another comment (people often just type the word "bump" and post that). A new comment puts it near the top of the listing for a few hours.
The easiest way to find the thread again after a month or so would probably be to look at your own comments on your Home page - under your name on the right are a few different words, one of which is "comments"; if you click on that you see all your comments listed in reverse date order. Find one which you posted about this thread and click on it. I think that would work!
Another way to find your threads easily (especially if you do a lot of commenting, like I do) is to save them in your Favourites feed. That way, you just click on them, they pop up and you bump them up.

How do you do that??
If you are using Windows Internet Explorer (which is really the only one I know how to use, sorry) if you look up on the right hand side of your screen, right under the little box where you close out the Explorer, you'll see 3 icons--a house, a star and a gear. These are "short-cut" icons--the house takes you back to your home page, the star is your favourites, and the gear is Tools. Click on the star--it asks if you want to save the page, and you tell it "yes".
If you aren't using Explorer, copy and paste the address into an email to yourself. That way you can still find it quickly.

None at all, sorry Cherry. It's not really the type of book that I normally read, so I'm afraid that I can't be a lot of help there. :o)
A long shot - "Whispering by Moonlight" by Teresa Bodwell in the collection of stories My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys?
Here are some reviews from Amazon:
"...It is 1862; Isabelle Milton is looking for her father when she runs out of money in Washington Territory. She finds a part-time job that plays out just before the harsh winds of winter arrive. The owners of the saloon where she works suggest to one of their customers that he hire Isabelle as a cook."
"...In 1862 Isabelle Milton finds herself broke working part-time in a saloon that does not need her help in Hell Gate, Washington Territory. Lucas Warring enters the saloon looking for his wastrel brother Matt, but learns his sibling has run off with miners. The saloonkeeper and his wife, the Havermans, persuade Lucas to take Isabelle to his ranch as a cook. As the northwest suffers from a frozen winter, they fall in love while learning how to stay warm."

No worries. It's tricky remembering details about a book you read 10-11 years ago.
Was the tone light and humorous, or more suspenseful and dramatic?
Anything to suggest the story was contemporary (e.g., DNA testing, cars, computers, technology)?

It sounds like she's traveling by herself, not with a child? Any sense that she's on the run, escaping from something bad?

You're welcome. I scanned a lot of titles and "Yours Truly" seems fairly close. I'd suggest trying to find it at a library. Good luck! :)

The story goes like this; the heroine have a list of her probable biological father, although she doesn't know which is which because her mother didn't tell her. So she went to a western city where her supposed father is living, but because she doesn't know if its really him she didn't tell anyone, specially him, about her suspicion. She have other reason to be there in that city and that is because her job required for her to be there. I think her job is a journalist, although i can't remember. The man she suspect is her father turned out to be a very happy family man who is known by the people in that city. And the hero of this story, the sheriff, suspect her of something or plotting something against the man. So he keeps a eye on her. Well suffice to say they fell in love with each other.
I've bought this book about 10-11 years ago in a second hand book store. So I don't know when this is published. I can't quite remember as well if this is a historical romance. I do hope you could help me.
