There is a man who is trying to reach someone/something. He has to pass through major obstacles and trials, including being physically harmed and disfigured. He reaches the end, minus a leg and other body parts. When he reaches the end he is embraced as one of the elite ruling class. His wife wants to join him, but the only way is to go through the same trial.
