what is the name of the comic book?"
Hi Marc,
I just finished Civil War: The Amazing Spider-Man. I knew roughly of its contents from doing some research surrounding Marvel, so it was a good introduction. I knew enough that it wasn't confusing. It was mainly out of convenience that I picked it up, it was the only Marvel comic my school library had!

But, but, it's part of your 2014 reading experience. Don'tcha wanna count your first comic!?

Also halfway through Transition by Iain M. Banks. I like to read a classic and a lighter read, but this isn't really lighter. If some people could transition between the Earths in different realities /universes, what sort of trouble would they get up to?

That... sounds strangely awesome.

I certainly count them! I started this year as well, although I tend to buy the full story arc and then count the Volume (of a number of comics) as one book, but that's just because that is the way I read them. However remember that each issue is called a comic BOOK.
In any event as Brenda said, you had a new reading experience, you absolutely should record that for posterity :)

Okay, that... sounds kind of awful. :P

Hitchhiker's totally counts as a classic.

I liked this book a whole lot more that I thought I would. I am planning on reading the rest of the series. Are you enjoying it?

I'm halfway through Middlemarch and liking it but it's feeling long.
Oh, I loved Norwegian Wood! So glad you are enjoying it, Monika. That was my first Murakami and I pretty much inhaled his other books afterwards.

One of my all-time fave books/series (at least the first 3 or 4 of the series). Been years since I've ready any of those. It is one of the few books and series of books where I have multiple copies for several reasons. Individual paperbacks, individual hardbacks for some, full series in one volume (at least when there were 3 or 4 books to the series), cover variations etc... For the first 4 books I have 3 or 4 copies of each book and 2 or 3 "complete series" volumes (as I said when there were only 3 or 4 books in the series)

I've read this - it's one of my favourite books :)
And I'm reading A Storm of Swords: Steel and Snow at the moment!
I'm reading a Henry James collection of essays (most notably The Art of Fiction, which is AWESOME), and Vanity Fair.

Ooh! How are you finding The Shock of the Fall? I read it earlier this year. Really enjoyed it!

Renee: My first Murakami was Kafka on the shore and I liked it very much. Norwegian Wood is a little different but I still like how the story is built and it is definitely not my last Murakami book! :)

I loved it, I struggled at the beginning but by half way I couldn't put it down. Definitely worth a read!
