I'm currently reading Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe and loving it so far :)

Hi Marc,
I just finished Civil War: The Amazing Spider-Man. I knew roughly of its contents from doing some research surrounding Marvel, so it was a good introduction. I knew enough that it wasn't confusing. It was mainly out of convenience that I picked it up, it was the only Marvel comic my school library had!

I'm 25% through Middlemarch. I haven't warmed up to it like I did with Silas Marner, but I'm not feeling like quitting on it either. Also halfway through Transition by Iain M. Banks. I like to read a classic and a lighter read, but this isn't really lighter. If some people could transition between the Earths in different realities /universes, what sort of trouble would they get up to?

That... sounds strangely awesome.

Faye, it's fascinating to me, but there's no likeable character so far to root for. The fun is figuring out how the pieces connect, because it's not clear yet. Maybe I should warn that there's some violence, cussing, and a couple by the numbers sex scenes. It doesn't seem like as much of that as Game of Thrones.
I'd add the Spider-man cause its a Graphic Novel. I might even add a regular comic book issue (sometimes one marvel comic book is more sophisticated reading than a two page news magazine article) I've added children's books to my challenges before.
Holly wrote: "Just finished my first comic book! Not sure whether to include it in my count or not..."I certainly count them! I started this year as well, although I tend to buy the full story arc and then count the Volume (of a number of comics) as one book, but that's just because that is the way I read them. However remember that each issue is called a comic BOOK.
In any event as Brenda said, you had a new reading experience, you absolutely should record that for posterity :)

Okay, that... sounds kind of awful. :P

Hitchhiker's totally counts as a classic.

Snow Flower and the Secret FanSnow Flower and the Secret Fan. Been on my list forever heheAlso working on Full Frontal Feminism: A Young Woman's Guide to Why Feminism Matters.
Lorah wrote: "I'm just over half way of Fallen by Lauren Kate I was hoping to have it finished by now but things have got in the way!"I liked this book a whole lot more that I thought I would. I am planning on reading the rest of the series. Are you enjoying it?
I'm reading Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers and James Potter and the Curse of the Gate Keeper. I'm not sure if I'm just really missing Potterverse but I'm really enjoying the James Potter series. I've never read fan fiction before and it's much better than I thought it would be!
Hey guys! I'm currently reading Norwegian Wood by Murakami and it is brilliant so I totally want to recommend it! Have a nice day everyone! :)
You have a great day too Monika :)I'm halfway through Middlemarch and liking it but it's feeling long.
Oh, I loved Norwegian Wood! So glad you are enjoying it, Monika. That was my first Murakami and I pretty much inhaled his other books afterwards.
working through War and Peace (25% done) and started Dune. Library books are due today, so usually that means I pick up more and have more stuff to read (like I need more after War and Peace and Dune!)
Marc wrote: "Still reading Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy"One of my all-time fave books/series (at least the first 3 or 4 of the series). Been years since I've ready any of those. It is one of the few books and series of books where I have multiple copies for several reasons. Individual paperbacks, individual hardbacks for some, full series in one volume (at least when there were 3 or 4 books to the series), cover variations etc... For the first 4 books I have 3 or 4 copies of each book and 2 or 3 "complete series" volumes (as I said when there were only 3 or 4 books in the series)
Am reading a lot. A few ebooks and two regular books. got two books at the library and they end the knife of never letting go trilogy.
Heather wrote: "I've just started Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky... Has anyone else read it?"I've read this - it's one of my favourite books :)
And I'm reading A Storm of Swords: Steel and Snow at the moment!
I'm reading a Henry James collection of essays (most notably The Art of Fiction, which is AWESOME), and Vanity Fair.
I am currently starting Uglies & American Gods. After finishing The Bone Collector & The Shock of the Fall.
Kaylie wrote: "I am currently starting Uglies & American Gods. After finishing The Bone Collector & The Shock of the Fall."Ooh! How are you finding The Shock of the Fall? I read it earlier this year. Really enjoyed it!
I'm reading A Field Guide to Burying Your Parents. I've hesitated about reading this one for a while as I thought it had the potential to be overly dramatic and emotional yet I've heard really good things about it. Thus far, it's been incredible! I started it last night before bed and I haven't been able to put it down since - which is an issue since I'm at work!
As I graduated from high school yesterday (yaay) I have had a lot of time to read since then (it has been basically all that I have done haha) and I'm quickly progressing with Norwegian Wood and it is still very good and special. Renee: My first Murakami was Kafka on the shore and I liked it very much. Norwegian Wood is a little different but I still like how the story is built and it is definitely not my last Murakami book! :)
Monika - congratulations on graduating from high school! I hope your first summer as a grad is filled with great books.

I loved it, I struggled at the beginning but by half way I couldn't put it down. Definitely worth a read!
Reading The Book Thief and like it but finding it hard going. Don't like the going back and forth with the narrator. Just want to complete it asap!
