Poor Angus! My brother lives near there (Collingwood), but I live a fair distance away, west of Toronto. We just got the rain and high winds.

Happy Friday everyone! I'm having a tough time this morning - I really had to force myself to come into work because all I wanted to do was sit home, enjoying the lovely weather with a stack of books. I'm so into my book at the moment, I don't want to do anything else (including work) until I finish. Does anyone else every get that?

I hear ya, Kassandra. I work at home, so I see my beautiful stack of books sitting right there looking all tempting and stuff while I'm trying to work. It's so haaaard!!

How do you do that Faye???? I'm not sure I would have the strength to do that. When I work at home, I have to be on a different floor than my library, otherwise I spend hours planning what to read next and organizing my shelves.

I'll be honest - sometimes I fail. ;)

so what's everyone up to? I'll be on a friend's online radio show on the 28th to promote my AbyssFantastical Young adult Horror Fantasy web serial I wrote here on goodreads from February to may of this year in the 2nd night of the storytellers. I sent a prerecorded audio reading of it of an excerpt from chapter 1 to the show so if you guys want to listen in it'll be at 6 pacific 9 eastern and 8 central at this link that night. Go to this link then and I hope you'll tune in. Other authors will be doing live and prerecorded reading of their works too. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/charred_... I'm excited about it. This is my first reading of it too. I'm working on the sequel now and I'm premiering chapter 4 of dark descent on the day of the show and the sequel is set 5 years after the first one.
No problem and yeah but it's going to be on blogtalkradio so everyone can listen to it so if you miss it, you can catch it when it archives after the show ends. :) I might call in to it but we'll see what happens. Thanks Sandy. Hope you can listen in. are you going to listen in? I'm just going by my first name on the show.
Has anyone read Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison ? Or anything else by her?
I justt finished listening to the audio version read by the author. Toni Morrison's reading was good but the book was terrible! I suspect this is because it was an abridged version (which I didn't realize until I was nearly done). I kept listening because it was TONI MORRISON, and I'd heard such great things about her work.
Anyway, I'll track down the book and read it if it's worthwhile, but I don't want to waste my time, so if you have read it, let me know. Thanks.

Support us by reading and reviewing if you can spare the time and money :) Thank you!!
Hi all, sorry for not being around at all, I've been on holiday and there was no wifi there, when I thought there would be!
I'll definitely get stuck back into this site. Sorry for leaving you all for so long!

Welcome back Holly! I'm just coming in the door from my holiday as well and the whole time on the plane I was thinking "I need to get on GR as soon as I get some so I can update my books!" I hope everyone had a fabulous week of books and lovely weather.
I just started a book club here on goodreads. You guys want to join. It's called the reading for pleasure book club so feel free to join and here's the link. https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...
I'm feeling happy as I've just re-arranged my front room so I have a reading chair with a shelf and a lamp next to it. It's the little things in life.
We've got a storm coming in, so lightening is constantly flashing outside my window. Doesn't serve well for getting a good nights sleep!
Cats are terrified, bless 'em. Socks just squeaks all the time. (she never actually meows).
Should be an interesting night!

btw, I just started my first ever book club here on goodreads that I made and ran myself called the reading for pleasure book club so feel free to check it out and join it if you want to and if you do have fun. I made it Tuesday and it is growing everyday. we start our first book club group read selection next month and we're voting for our book right now.
Yay, Me! I just finished my 100th book! The Girl With All The Gifts, which was excellent! I'm glad 100 was a great one. :)
If anyone is interested in continuing on with the Maze Runner series, Chapters is selling all 4 books in a boxed set for $21. Sorry, I'm on my phone so I can't include the link.
Hey Sandy. Sup? I've been busy with my first ever online book club which has 79 members now so I only post here to add on to my books list and stuff. I try to post here when I can though. Just been reading, writing, and enjoying my Summer.
Thanks Sandy. ^_^ I hope you are having fun there too and yeah Summer is for Reading and having fun and doing stuff you've never done before too.
Sandy, I'm happy to hear that you have been reading more now than in the last few years. Is that because of this group? Any tips on how you have managed it?
2000 books for free??? That's like heaven on Earth! Congrats Iasa, enjoy digging into all those goodies.

Such a tragedy. He's always been so troubled, poor guy. :(

I'm sorry everything's been so quiet around here. I've been dealing with family stuff, a flooded basement, and complete and utter exhaustion. I've barely been able to read lately, let alone discuss reading. :(
That's okay Faye. You are fine. sorry you haven't been able to read lately but I hope you are doing okay.
Or you could make a book shelf out of a wooden shelf and wood-glue it into a wooden picture frame. hallmark channel's home and family show did that and it was pretty cool.
Oh My God! We live in the SAME house!! (Probably never see each other because of all the books.)
Ladies, you sound like you have been in my house, too; books do not make it into the bookshelves, I have to step precariously out of bed because there are so many stacks sitting by.How stressful Faye, sorry you have to go through all the bother and work!
Hey Iasa, they have tons of ideas online to make your own bookshelves like I saw one where you use Metal L Brackets in the walls and you have your own invisible book shelves and other stuff. I added a new thread at my reading for pleasure book club that links to book shelves you can make yourself called DIY book shelf ideas.
