How's the weather where everyone loves, here in Charleston WV it's 11° and Monday and Tuesday they say it's going to snow

In Toronto it is -16Celsius, which means it's cold. At least the sun is nice and bright on all the snow.

7Celsius in Amsterdam, not very cold but it's stormy windy and it rains a lot (just stopped actually, not sure for how long though...)
Cold here in New Jersey! I'm right outside of New York City. I think we got about 8 inches or so from the winter storm that blasted the east coast. (This would be a lovely time to visit, say, Buenos Aires or Montevideo . . . .)
Toronto is in for another record breaking cold weekend. With the wind chill, it is supposed to feel like -35 Celsius, with is about the same in Fahrenheit--Way too cold! Brrrr!
Lol, Allison! I'm still surrounded by cold, and it's still freezing. So, yeah. A little jealous here.
I did and blocked her. Its a new thing Goodreads is testing when notable people join GR and there's no way to opt out of those notifications at this time is what they said at the Goodreads Feedback group.
I hope so too Allison but they don't have it available right now. A lot of people are really upset about this. I am one of them but blocking the people will be the only way I can ignore their ads.
Hi RK, I just read when I have time (and when I not too tired from work). So that can mean that I don’t read at all and some (weekend) days I read up to 5, 6 hours or more. I only plan reading time when I enter a readathon and when I have to read stuff for work and/or training. How about you? What prompted this question?
RK wrote: "Hi Susy and Camille. I usually read more on weekends so I'm looking for some ways to read more during weekdays but without straining my eyes more."I hardly read during weekdays either. I get home, make some dinner which I eat while watching a tv series. After that I'm usually too tired. Normally I go to bed early and try to read some on my tablet (white letters on a black background which strains my eyes less). Sometimes I read a few pages but sometimes I just hold my tablet for a few minutes without reading and then give up and go to sleep lol.
You could also try audiobooks if your main goal is to read without straining your eyes?

I usually read in the evening after my toddler goes to bed. Sometimes he sleeps later in the morning and in that case I read a bit, too.
RK wrote: "Wow... a toddler. I forget how toddlers are. Energetic? Quiet? Inquisitive? And that's a nice little window for reading time. I think snack reading might do. Thanks!"
All of them depending on their moods :-D
"Snack reading" is a good way of calling it, very clever! I do a lot of it, even during the day, when I have 5 minutes to sit down, for example, I'll grab a book and read a few pages. It's sometimes frustrating to start and stop quickly, but still I find it more fulfilling than not reading at all.
I can’t do snack reading. If I start I can’t stop and will ignore all other stuff I was planning on doing lol
The timing of things, sometimes!I'm currently reading The Indifferent Stars Above: The Harrowing Saga of a Donner Party Bride... I live 150 or so miles from Donner Pass...where there was 400 inches of snow as of yesterday...and it hadn't quit yet... That's more than 33 feet of snow. What an example!
I just found out that my favorite readathon, the 24in48 readathon was cancelled for January 2020 and that it may even stop completely. I'm checking in my groups if people are interested in joining a 24in28 readathon with me (way more low key than the original one of course). If so, please let me know!
Oh, my! The Chit Chat thread has been moribund for the last two years. I think this is a testament to how thoroughly overwhelming this time has been for all of us.
I actually just wanted to jump on here to share some wonderful personal news...
My niece, Alexis Cunningham, has been chosen to represent her home state of West Virginia in the upcoming American Song Contest!!! The show is based on the very popular Eurovision program. I’m so so SO excited for her and proud of her. And I just wanted to share the joy!

Thanks, Guys! She’s insanely talented. :D
The premier of the show is Monday, March 21. They will showcase 11 performers/songwriters at a time. Alexis will have her debut on April 11.
I just can’t believe that she will be on national tv... and potentially seen by the whole planet!
I’m in perpetual squee-mode.

I’m currently doing a personal reading challenge where I read one book from every country in the world 🌍📚 I would love to hear what you guys think and if you have any suggestions for me! https://www.instagram.com/readtheworl...
