I just have to say that I am glad I joined Goodreads and this challenge. Finally able to interact with other avid readers! I have friends that like to read and am even a part of a book club, but until being on here I had not met, or was able to talk to, people who seem to thrive on reading a much as I do.

awesome Tara! :)Me too. I moderate a classic book club called Tattered Tales and am apart of this one and the all about books book club on here too. reading rocks!
Ooh a classic book club! Awesome! The book club I'm in is not genre specific and we are still learning each others preferences. So tomorrow we choose a new book, we just read Walking Disaster. I came up with about six ideas from multiple genres and hoping very one likes at least one. I am looking forward to next months genre challenge on here because I got a book that is a collaboration of Jane Austen novels for Christmas. I am looking forward to spending the month reading that, among other things!!
Well, feel free to join up at the tattered tales book club Tara. We're a small group but got a good group read of Northanger abbey for Jan-Feb and a group readalong of Peter Pan. In Feb, we'll nominate/vote for our next group readalong of a classic book. good luck with your book club too.
Awesome Sandy. Go on and join. :) It's my classics home too though I haven't read that many so far. See you there.
Btw I hope both of your reading is going well girls. Mine is fine. I'm up to book 8 on my reading challenge of reading 1 or more books a week until the end of the year and I'm doing well on a bible reading challenge too. :)
Sandy, I feel your pain. I went through a period of not reading, and the sole reason was because I was on goodreads so much'
I just finished book # 8 but will prob have to give up on the read 4 review book as I can't get past pg 45. I guess I lost interest in it. I come here daily but I am going to read what's on my tbr list before I add anymore.
Goodreads is addictive! Amber, I'm so excited for you to already be on book number eight for the year!
@Holly - what about the february group reads nominations?? When are you starting to take in suggestions??
I'll start up the nomination threads on the 15th, then the polls will start when we have around 5/6 nominations. They'll then close on around the 25th or 27th.
Does that sound alright?
Does that sound alright?
Yeah sure! I was just wondering why you weren't putting the threads up since most groups create their polls around this time...:):)
Yeah, I just wanted to make sure people got settled into 2014 and the group before starting the next round of nominations/polls.
Divergent will automatically be added to the YA poll, as it drew with The Book Thief in January.

I'm a bit of both really. I'll quite often find a classic on goodreads, then see if it's in my school library. Considering it has such a good range of classics, it's rare that it doesn't have the book I want.
I'd use my local library more (although I do volunteer there every week), it just doesn't have many classics, which probably make up for 90% of my reading. There are a few I would love to take out though, so hopefully I'll use it more soon.

Narin wrote: "Soooo guys, question; Do you prefer finding new books on Goodreads, or in the library?"Library? Lol, I have just Goodreads and my keyboard kindle to lean on. If both are gone tomorrow, I'd be seriously hobbled. Where I live there's no world class library. Yay for goodreads.
I only have a tiny one, locally, but my school one is decent enough.
That's the one good things about reading a lot of classics, most of them are free on Kindle!

I use my local library, and the overdrive ebooks library for my books/ebooks. If I can't find them there, I check the bookstores or just read books I own. The ebooks library/regular library helped me to find some great reads and got me hooked on my fave author sherrilyn kenyon's books. I also have ebooks on my android tablet to read.

A little of both. I've heard of a lot of books on Goodreads that my library doesn't even have, or that I would have overlooked just by the title and cover but that people's comments have made me want to read. On the other hand, I find it easier to browse for books at a library.

Narin wrote: "I never go out empty-handed from there."Okay Narin, I respect that position, though for me, it would hearken back to the dark times if my online selection of books would be restricted.
I find books in the library and on goodreads. But I love the library and cannot imagine not having access to a great library.
I'm doing good. Going to finish the sonja blue novel tonight, read more of itch the adventures of an explosive element hunter which is a pretty good read, and do my bible reading for tonight. Our church is all reading the bible together this year by reading 3 chapters a day and we're up to exodus chapters 13 through 15 tonight. They give us a weekly schedule each week of the bible verses on Sunday and the week starts that night through Saturday and then starts again. I've been doing it and my mom's listening to the bible on audiobook cd. It's cool. Also been doing ya book reviews for a site called the kid zone and I do familyfilm reviews too at kidzonereviews.wordpress.com so I hope to do more soon. I'm running the official fbpage of it too which is facebook.com/kidzonereviews . Other than that, am caught up with the show once upon a time until the 2nd half of season 3 in march. Can't wait to see what happens next! :-)
My daughter and I both love OUAT!!! I still har some episodes to catch up on though from this season. I saw the last episode of the season in pieces and about died with the ending!
Awesome tara! You'll enjoy it. Next part of season 3 is going to have the wicked witch of the west in it so I'm excited!
It's made me want to go back and read all the original fairy tale stories!! I've been hunting then down. I have Cinderella but have to find the others still. Can't wait to get caught up and for season 3!
Man, I wish I did a page challenge instead of a book challenge. 30 books is reasonable, but what if they all are 600+ pages...something to consider for next year :D #karamazov

My dog was sick in the middle of the night, and when I finally got back to sleep after dealing with that, I ended up sleeping in waaaay late, which has made me groggy and cranky and completely unproductive. I also have a sore throat, so my avoidance streak of colds this winter is probably over, and I just ate a really weird-tasting apple. So yeah, my day's a little bit crappy so far, heh. How about yours?

I hope you feel better faye and sandy me too. I've had a good day of hanging out with family and going to church normal Sunday stuff. I'm now home and ready to get some reading done my general reading and bible reading for my church's bible reading challenge. We're reading the bible together as a church this year and its fun. Plus they give us a schedule every week of what chapters of the bible to read a day and it helps me to remember to read it because before I never did. So I just add my bible reading and do it with my regular reading.
Hey all have a great day of reading! if you are in the US and are celebrating the Superbowl, stay safe and have fun too. I hope everyone's reading is going well. I'm almost done with ready player one so I can get to my next reads. it's a pretty good read.
I am trying this week to finish 2 if the books I have going, Outlander and The Daniel Plan. I am going to push through the Daniel Plan today during the slow parts and before ad after the game. This year we will just be hanging out at my in-laws, so no big party just relax and cozy
Not much Ruchi. Just chilling. Enjoying Redwall and Peter Pan and am about to start the Shining girls today. Also got a film to view tonight for a family film review for a kids review website that I do family film reviews and ya book reviews at under my first name called http://kidzonereviews.wordpress.com which is Judy Blume's film adaptation of her book Tiger Eyes after the new Big Bang Theory and its cold down here. Brr! how's your reading going and everything?
Who else is obsessed with the Olympics??
Here in Canada we get 24-hour coverage, and most of the live events are on overnight, so I don't plan on getting much sleep this month, haha!

I get obsessed with every Olympics, but especially the winter games. After all, I'm Canadian - winter sports are a big part of our culture!

so how is everyone's reading going? I'm almost done with redwall. It's a pretty good book. I'm going to read more of Peter pan and shining girls soon too.

I love figure skating, too, but my favourite is the pairs. Those girls are insane being thrown around like that, I love it, haha! I do love ice dance when someone incredible is in the competition, though, such as Tessa and Scott.
Have you been watching the team event? That little Russian girl was incredible!
