Hey guys!
The polls are now at the top of the list and far more accessible! If you click on the poll link to the right, they should be right there before you!
Crisis averted!

Hey Sam - how are you trying to access them? Have you tried clicking on the links above? You can also try clicking on 'Polls' on our group page. Give those options a try and if you're still not able to access them, let me know. Thanks!
I've managed it now, thanks. I was trying to access it through the app on my phone, tried on the desktop site and it worked fine.
Yeah, the app is good for a lot of things, but it's particularly poor for groups..
Glad you got it sorted, Sam!

Holly, I've always used the app however it's beginning to frustrate me. I can't link to books when making comments or access the polls easily. My laptop is so ancient that it's easier to use the app then wait forever to fire it up!
My flatmates keep on looking at me funny because I'm usually up, dressed and doing things by 9am. It's currently 2pm and I'm still lounging in bed in my PJs! :)
Time to get started on Othello!
Time to get started on Othello!
As your flatmates pass by, maybe they could bring you some tea and bisquits to go with Othello. You gotta keep that peaceful feeling going. :D
Dammit. I was planning on starting Orange is the New Black, but I realised I forgot to bring my Kindle with me back to Uni...
And the library doesn't have a copy. My life is over.

Nooooooooooooo!!!! Holly, maybe some of your fellow flatmates have a copy? If not, maybe a sob story to Mom and Dad to get them to put your Kindle in the post!
Groan! I hate when that happens, and you are looking forward to that book! Did you stomp up and down, that might relieve the pressure, but not solve the problem.
Many mumblings and groanings have occurred since I realised, believe me. And a fair bit of angry pacing.
Nevertheless, I have tentatively started One Hundred Years of Solitude, as I'm in the mood for fiction and the only books I have from the library are non-fiction books. I could walk up there and get something, but I need to actually push myself to start One Hundred Years, which I'm a bit daunted by...

I started One Hundred Years last night and I agree with you Holly. I hope the daunting feeling passes as I get into it a bit. Whether this is a bright side, maybe this will push you into the book. You know like being pushed into the pool -- startling at first and then you give a *sigh* and enjoy! :D
Yes! To all the moms out there in Bookland! Wishing you breakfast in bed and no cleanup afterwards! (Or whatever the equivalent is for you.)
This seems so odd to me, considering Mothers Day in the UK is in March! Nevertheless, a massive hug to all the Mothers out there. I couldn't do what you do!
P.S. I just burnt my hand cooking instant noodles. #studentlife

Holly I always panic when I first read the mother's day posts until I remember it's already been. Hope your hand is ok. I remember living off instant noodles as a student. I used to have noodles on toast with melted cheese on top!
My brand new daughter arrived on Monday so I qualified to celebrate Mother's Day today :) The week has been all about learning our way around so I don't know how my reading habits will evolve yet. I have however started reading to her!

Congrats Karen! She's an honourary member of the group but I'm sure she will start adding her own reading lists in no time with your infectious love of reading! All the best to you as you settle into your new role of Mommy!
Happy Mother's Day to you Karen! Enjoy being a Mom and the treat of reading to your new daughter. Oh, how I loved reading to my kiddies.
Thank you everyone! This is an amazing experience so far. I would be happy to hear what favorite books you all read to the kids in your life. Can't have too many books!
Try 1001 Children's Books You Must Read Before You Grow Up by Julia Eccleshare. This is basically a list of really great children's books. It sorts them by age group and gives a description of the author and story. I wish I had this when my kids were growing up. :D
Congratulations on your little one Karen! Anything by Dr. Seuss is fun to read! The Cat in the Hat was always a favorite.
A favorite when they were very little The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear by Don Wood, because of the expression you could add while reading this book. The illustrations were fun and colorful!
I'm going DARK starting tomorrow! I'm staying with my mom for four days, she has no internet. Wish me luck. :D
I just found this talk by Susan Cain who wrote the book Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking. I loved this speech and so agree with Susan's thinking. http://blog.theliteracysite.com/tedta...
Good luck, Melissa! You're definitely stronger than I am! I can go for like 2 days, and I occasionally just do an 'off day'. But 4 days would be a killer!
Good luck Melissa! It should make for some great quality time with your family...and maybe some good paperback reads :)
Good Luck Melissa, it might not be as bad as you think. Last month on holiday we went 6 days without internet access, after a few withdrawal symptoms the family adjusted and enjoyed the free time. I hope you'll have a great time with your mom.Be sure to bring with you some spare reading material just in case :)
Yes, I'll be getting some reading time in. Mom stays up till 2 a.m. must nights reading! And yes, Holly, I will need strength, for both lack of internet and being in the house with a smoker. But everything else is good. Should be in for some good laughs this week. :D
Sometimes at work we can get various things for a cheaper price through some companies. I'm always interested in books.I got a proper bargain this week! I manage to acquire the 15-book Roald Dahl box set for £20. The retail price is £98.85! I'm so happy!
There are 3 books in the box I haven't read, but I want to read all of them. And it will help me get a lot of points for the June bonus!!
