Want to say a bit thanks to Renee. I was struggling to finish reading The Woman in White. I found it on Librivox so I can now listen to it while doing other things and it will be much easier! I listened to it yesterday while baking bacon and cheese muffins, it was ace.
Hey Renee I listened to The Velveteen Rabbiton librivox and it was a pretty good book to listen to. I enjoyed it.
Hi. I just realised how awesome good reads. I used to read more as a teenager and I stopped. I would buy books but never get around to read them. when I checked out goodreads and its cool app it jumpstarted my thirst for reading again. I spend half the night scanning the books on my shelf adding them on my to read list. every time I check the read button I feel so good! p.s. im a half egyptian half saudi living in saudi arabia

I thought it was so sad that the rabbit almost died until he became a real one. :)

Aw, it happens overnight, doesn't it?

Just to confirm, the Nominations section hasn't disappeared! Due to the recent addition of the Readathons folder, we've hit the limit of folders we can have on the homepage.
I recommend you click on 'Discussion Board' at the top of the page or 'Discussions' in the sidebar, to get the everything up. Especially since we'll probably be adding new folders in 2015.
And the nominations for our October Group Reads are now up!

btw its national read an ebook day. you guys been reading any good ebooks lately? I've been reading them all year long with my regular reads.
I've got a few to read on my kindle but haven't read anything on it today. If it's a good book, you tend to forget it's even on a kindle. The last story I read was To Kill A Mockingbird. The next will be We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves after I've read all of the library books I've ordered. You can now download borrowed books from your virtual libraries but unfortunately, my kindle doesn't support epub format. The last book I downloaded was Oz: The Complete Collection for 77p. I love the instant gratification from downloading a book.
Thanks, Renee!
I've just realised that I get to study O Pioneers! in like 2 weeks! Introduction to American Lit module for the win! It has a super awesome list of set texts (although I have already read like half of them...).

Does anyone ever get really frustrated that they can't read super super fast, so they could get through all the books they want to?
WHY DOES READING TAKE SO LONG?!

Lol, you're already so much faster than I am . . .
Although I've noticed I'm going through books faster this year, so yes! I can retrain myself to be faster. :D
But I'm not fast enough. Although, by fast, I mean like read a book in like a minute. So I can get through all the greats easily in a day! :P
I think it is definitely accumulative. I've definitely gotten faster over the last year or so too!
Although I don't think I'm going to be able to reach my goal this year! :(

How many books did you read last year? Either way, you've been busy. I think you get some leeway what with finishing school, starting college, dating, and picking harder books to read.
53 last year, but that was before I really got into Goodreads (which really started pushing my reading). I admit, I did aim big this year. But still, I want to get there!
I just don't like failing goals!
And I really need to get back into reviewing...

Agree with you Holly, on both counts! GoodReads has helped me to double my usual number of books read...more specifically, this group has helped me. I wish every day that I were a faster reader. My SIL can read a 300 page book in less than an hour and still understand/retain everything. I want to be like her soooooooo badly!
I am the same, I wish I could just start a book and be done with it in 5 minutes so I could read another one! I think the only thing we can do, though, is not to be too harsh on ourselves and keep reading. I find the more I read, the faster I become at reading. Another excuse for me to keep reading? :-D
This sounds so much like me! I wish I'd be a much faster reader :( Especially 'cause my speed dropped again aftr moving back to Switzerland after I lived in London. I guess readingin English without using it on a daily base makes you slower.. but recently I felt like I picked up some speed again :) and now that my laptop broke I'll have even more time to read. No distraction anymore :DWe don't need an excuse to read, do we? :D
I read fast but on short books it takes me one to a few days to finish them and longer ones take about a week or more depending how long it is.
