In The Reencounter a distinction is made between the voice of Truth and the voice of fear. Truth, God and Love are represented as one entity being present in everyone's moment of silence. Fear is presented to be a distracting voice which covers the voice of Truth and prevents change. Even though these two voices are distinct, the voice of fear is mostly represented as the voice of reason. Thus reason and love are simultaneously present at every crossroads in our life with the one being louder and the other residing in silence.
