Larry, holy crap, I just caught my terrible "I teach grammar but I'm an idiot" typo up there. Fuck!
*writhes*
I hate when the internet blows hot air up my grammar skirt and reveals mydeep ineptitude with grammar flaws!

I think this is an interesting issue for anyone who hangs out on GR or any other interactive online site. The two ends of the spectrum seem to be "sugary courtesy where no one fights over anything and avoids conflict and disagreement at all costs" and "people being assholes for no reason beyond wanting to antagonize others". We've done a good job of working the balance in TC. I trust we'll continue to do that, but if we had to error to one extreme I'd probably lean towards the "honest" end. So thanks for being so cool, people. And that includes you, Sally:)

and, about grammer and mistakes that we make while writing. I always was the one who paid attention to to grammer, punctuation,spelling... and my friends and family always asked my help to correct their mistakes. they know how crazy i am about writing correct, without mistakes. but I speak about my native language. As i learned english quite recently, I KNOW that I make mistakes, and I hate myself for that. (:

I sometimes wonder if I am reading things wrong, or if what I am writing sounds rude when that is absolutely not my intention.
I have a very sarcastic personality, and it is hard to get across that I am joking and not just being an ass(I guess that's subjective).
So most of the time, I just try to cut the sarcasm since I don't want to come off as.. well, an ass.
Anyway, in thinking about designing a unit plan around online writing, one has to think about setting perameters, laying the ground rules, etc.
Rudeness inevitably comes up in lists like these. Consideration, humbleness, calmness, these are all things one wants to cultivate in a forum situation. Read each other's posts through completely before commenting yourself is one that I slack on all the time.
I'm really sorry about that. I did it yesterday and I'm still feeling rude about it. I don't mean to trivialize all of you and what you're already discussing when I jump in like that. I do go back and reread entire threads after posting in situations like that.
Anyway, I was thinking about my own behaviour online and on here especially while reading this:

Thought y'all might find it interesting too. Not that we need rules here. Everyone
exceptIbut meelse behaves perfectly well.
