I picked up the book to read today from my local library. I have to say I'm a bit bored, I've only read the first dozen pages or so. At what point did you find it pick up or does it at all?
I've finally got a chance to begin reading Lock and Key, postponed due to exams. It's okay so far I'm only 30 pages in but I got excited for ruby meeting Nate across the fence. Is anyone else reading it?
I'm nearly half way through, it has definitely picked up but I'm still not engulfed in the story. I'm not sure if its Ruby or the storyline, I'm just not finding it that exciting or it making me eager to read it.
I FINALLY finished the book. I started to get into it a bit more by around page 320 which is only a hundred pages to the end which is kind of annoying. At points I just wanted to shake Ruby and be like (view spoiler) but you know, she progressed as a character which I admired.
I agree with Taylor that the end wasn't really satisfying, and I was confused (view spoiler)
I appreciated the major theme of family and how everyones definition is different but with the overall 'family is important'.
I particularly liked the quote 'we all have one idea of what the colour blue is, but pressed it describe it specifically, there area so many ways: the ocean, lapis lazuli, the sky someones eyes. Our definitions were as different as we were ourselves.'
I thought that this quote kind of summed up the book, through showing that everyone has a different perception of certain things and we should acknowledge this. I think that is what I really enjoyed about the book,
what do you guys think about this?
