It's my first time reading this. Iwant to know what the hype is all about. I hope I won't be disappointed, I would appear a black sheep otherwise! Haha.

I've been really slow in reading this. Quite confused what the terms are so I'm reading it twice to understand better. Don't know what reaping is, as well as the Capitol. I do know their country is Panem. I hope it won't take long for me to know so I could catch up well with the story!

Just finished the 1st chapter. I've been really slow it's depressing. Haha. (view spoiler)[I didn't know that The Hunger Games is this brutal. Wow. They send kids! It's insane. And out of Katniss' 20 entries and other girls' entries, Prim was chosen instead! (hide spoiler)]

I wonder why Haymitch is always drunk. For the stereotype reason it is perhaps because of the glory he received and not having to worry about food.

I have also forgotten what is Effie's position or relation to the Mayor or the Capitol? I don't remember it being mentioned.

I'm currently on Chapter 9. This is the type of books that I like. Katniss is a very strong heroine, yet you get to see her vulnerable side. I like how she isn't whiny or reckless with her decisions. I find Peeta hard to read but I do think he's indeed kind. I have a feeling I'm going to like this as much as the others did!

Oh, I'm loving Peeta's interview! He seems quite mysterious to me but I love him already. It must've been a surprise he indirectly told everyone who he was referring to. I wonder what Katniss thinks of him now ;)

I loved it the first time though I still thought it was little overhyped!

Its will get better, promise! I love the dystopian setting of Panem though! :)

I know. It really is very violent and brutal! I mean (view spoiler)[ Kids murdering kids on live TV? Its really quite a horrific thought, but the way it is written is awesome! (hide spoiler)]

Katniss is the ultimate kick-ass strong, amazing heroine. Love her! I do like Peeta. A lot, but Gale? <3! I hope you are going to enjoy it too! :P

Aha. That part! I am guessing you haven't seen the movie of this either right? :)

It probably would, so I would wait to afterwards! :) I was just going to say that they did Peeta's interview part really well in the movie. Overall, I was actually really happy with the casting of the Hg movie!

I have to agree with that. Though the idea is insane, the story's execution is amazing. This isn't original, though. As I have 'Battle Royale' by Takoumi Kushun on my TBR and it has the same concept, killing each other to survive. But the idea of this in THG suits perfectly, given their society condition and how each district struggles for survival.

I'm on Chapter 19 at the moment and I think what Katniss did with Rue was beautiful. I'm still waiting for Peeta to come in the scene, though. How is he doing?

It really is! The vague concept I have heard many times over before, though I have never actually read a book like it before. I think the concept is still amazing though!

That part with Rue. Is gorgeous. Katniss seriously is incredible! Hmm, you'll have to see! :) Aha, I don't want to spoil it for you! :)

Oh it's getting exciting! I wonder what made them change the rules? Perhaps they saw a tough competition or a change this season?

Anyway, I can't wait for Peeta and Katniss to work together. I miss him! Haha! He's been absent for a while!

Umm, no they can still win they just lose the advantage of using their fellow tribute as a teammate. Does that make sense?

Aha! Very clever! But I wasn't surprised. They can't let two victors win, but oh well! At least they allowed it, if this is the consequence of both of them dying. LOL

Foxface's death was a waste. She outsmarted all of them and she just died because of eating berries.

I don't understand the mutts part. How come they have the eyes of the dead tributes?

Finished this one last night amd fortunately I liked it :)

I just finished it then! Have to say that I liked it a lot better this time round! I will say that Katniss can be an absolute cow when she wants to be. What she did to Peeta... ah! Its so horrible! How can she not see how that effects him? How he really feels? How she really feels!? Annoying! Though I really, really love Gale!

I know! I was actually really upset when she died! She was hell smart and would have probably won, if it wasn't for the stupid nightlock berries! What did you think of the suicide attempt at the end!?

And Cato's death! I felt sick reading it. It took him hours and hours to slowly been eaten to death! Ugh!

The mutts weren't actually the tributes, they just looked like them. I guess it was to freak Cato, Peeta and Katniss out. I mean imagine seeing Rue as a giant, mutant wolf trying to rip your throat out!? Probably boosted the views or whatever.

I am glad you liked it! I am excited to reread the 2nd book, though I have to say that I didn't really enjoy it the first time round.

Katniss feels different somehow. And I didn't get "her history" with Peeta from the movie or I might have missed it, I'm not sure. But it makes me like him more. And I like her too. (hide spoiler)]

@Kamille (view spoiler)[Honestly the movie didn't show enough of anything I'm surprised at how much I didn't know. And I'm not even sure if it were in the movie and I missed it or if it just wasn't there at all. It's been a while since I saw it.

I liked the explanation of their three-fingered salute. You know, saying goodbye to someone you love. I didn't understand that before.

I haven't noticed in the movie that Katniss was frosty towards her mother like she is in the book. I thought it was a little harsh at first until she explained how her mother checked out after her father's death. I've never heard of something called Immobilizing Sadness though. Do you guys know if that's a real thing?

I also thought that she and Gale were in a relationship. It looked that way in the movie but I guess that was wrong too. xD (hide spoiler)]

I like Book Peeta a lot more than Movie Peeta. (view spoiler)[ Honestly he seemed kind of a wimp in the movie. In the book he sounds plenty tough and strong and he just doesn't want to act on it. There's a big difference there. Also, Movie Peeta looks nothing like Book Peeta. Wasn't he supposed to be big, tall and blonde?

I feel so bad for Gale! He had to see all this on the screens with the interviews and the kissing and everything and he's clearly in love with her. And I feel bad for Peeta after she broke the news to him that she was faking it. Even though he should have seen it coming. I mean that's what they agreed on before they even reached the arena. I don't feel that bad for Katniss but I don't envy the situation she's in. What did you guys think of that?

I don't know, but I think Peeta won't really show being in love with her if he really isn't. And there's Gale, whose reaction for the star crossed lovers thing I'm badly itching to know soon. In the movie, I was pro Gale all the way but the book made me think of Peeta more. But I still hope that Gale will understand that everything Katniss did was for the games. And I hate so much Katniss' confusion with her feelings. Well, I can't blame he'd for dismissing her thoughts about that. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I felt like Katniss was made more than she really is. In the movie I mean. More skillful. More determined. More stubborn. More defiant. I mean like for example at the beginning of the games she found water easily even though in the book she was dehydrated for a while before she found it. They don't mention that she is scared of the Capitol or what could happen to her and that she didn't mean to rebel. They made her rebellious from the get go even though that was more Gale than her. And she was stiff with no feelings like a machine. And some of the things that happened to her were supposed to be lucky but that wasn't in the movie either. I related more to her in the book than the movie to be honest. And that's my rant xD There are many more examples but I don't remember them right now. (hide spoiler)]

But actually her defiance during the game was influenced by Peeta (saying that he wants to die as himself and not being a piece of the games), but Katniss was more clever to think of a way on how to do it. I unfortunately saw the hunger games movie before reading the book which is something I NEVER do...and I'll never do it again! Lol! The movie was great, but the book is so fantastic! Loved every minute of it!

I watched the movie first and I didn't like it very much and it took a lot of convincing from a friend of mine to finally get me to read it. The book was great and I'm pretty sure one of the main reason I didn't like the movie is that I didn't understand it. I mean they left out so many details -as they usually do when they turn books into movies- that I felt like reading the book was a completely different experience. I do prefer reading books first and also right before I see the movies.

Oh, there was so much from they left out in the movie! So much internal struggle. And in the film, I feel like they lead you to believe there's more romantic chemistry between Gale and Katniss which is misleading. I will never watch the movie first ever again. The movie definitely pales in comparison to the book.

That's what I really felt! I had someone explain literally all that was happening in the movie!
