Aildiin | 150 comments Bill Willingham just announced it on his web site.

I am sad to hear about it, Fables has been one of the most consistently good comics of the last 10 years

Dharmakirti | 942 comments I haven't read comics on a regular basis in awhile, but when I did, Fables was one of my favorites. Really good stuff.

António | 10 comments In a way that's good news.
I've read a bit of it at the start and really liked it, but didn't want to get stuck into something indefinitely. Soon enough I'll be able to pick up the whole thing and read it from start to finish :)

John (Nevets) Nevets (nevets) | 1903 comments I haven't gotten started on this series yet, but I have heard great things about most of it. But, the last comment got me thinking. If you read in trade, you're probably going to spend about $250 or more to get the whole 150 issues. If you go digital it will probably be $300, because they insist on selling ack issues for $1.99. To me the thought of that kind of expense, even if I didn't buy it all at once is pretty big. But what if they would sell you the whole series digitally for $150. Chances are I'd bite. I did with Planattery when they did that for a buck an issue a while back. And there are a few others I'd love to get if they did the same thing, but it shouldn't be a sale price, just a series price.

Anyway, sorry for the rambling side track, just what I was thinking about,

John

Aildiin | 150 comments I have actually been reading the deluxe hardcover Fables book and in my view it is the best way to read the serie ( i Do buy Fairest every month). They are of very high quality and are as cost effective as the trade paperback, the only issue being that only 7 of them are out and they only cover up to issue 65 or so...

As for your digital wish, the Fables book were on sales on Comixology for 0.99$ per about 1 month ago.

ScottIsANerd (GrilledCheeseSamurai) (grilledcheesesamurai) Bittersweet news. Its been a good run though, and is deserving of an ending. With this coming to a close, and the Unwritten to begin it's swan song...kinda makes me sad. :(

Nils Krebber | 208 comments I have to admit I am always happy nowadays when I hear an author has a dedicated end in mind for a series and pulls through with it.

There are so many bad experiences where people try to tell a story ad infinitum and it's almost impossible to uphold any kind of quality forever.

As to the pricing, I have to admit I read my Fables from the local library, but could see myself buying a complete edition someday, if only to be able to lend it to my brother and friends.

Nancy O'Toole (temporaryworlds) | 135 comments Noooooooo!

But.... it's good that he's not dragging it out forever.

I also read versions from my local library, and buy them used when they drop in price. I have the first ten of the graphic novels this way.

John (Nevets) Nevets (nevets) | 1903 comments Okay, that rant of mine was done while I was very low on sleep, my apologies. I'm really not that bitter about the situation, but I do think the publishers could make a lot of money if they put out whole series collections for a buck or less. I have a bit more to say but I won't hijack this thread any longer. I'll do that on the comics pull list thread.
