If you've ever thought a book club would be fun but didn't want to be tied down to reading the same book that everyone else is, this is the book club for you. Each month we'll have a topic, and you can read whatever book you want--fiction, nonfiction, as long as it appeals to you and fits the topic.

The topic for November 2013 is "Anything to do with FOOD". Could have food in the title, be about food, be about chefs/cooks, have a recipe in the book, whatever!

Michelle "Champ" (michellechampion) | 73 comments I recommend you read the book "friendship bread" by Darien Gee. Very fun and has recipes.

Pretty quiet group right now-hope that means you've all got your noses buried in books! Found anything particularly fantastic lately?

Kelly Veatch | 11 comments I like it. It's nonfiction and many of the names and places are very difficult to keep up with it because they are so foreign. But, I'm really enjoying learning about this culture and how different their lives are than ours. The way women are treated over there is just ridiculous. Also, it's hard to believe that some Americans don't really want the free education that is provided for them, but people on the other side of the world risk their lives in the name of education. The book certainly offers a lot to ponder!

Melissa (melissapurls) | 38 comments Yesterday I finished Death of a Chef. I'm trying to branch out with the reading challenge books and murder mysteries aren't usually my thing. It was good but as a "culinary mystery" all the characters went out to eat at these fabulous restaurants or cooked themselves really fancy food. It made me hungry! I have no idea how much I absentmindedly munched on things as I read.

Maybe next month we should read dieting books... :)

LOL--we'd thought about suggesting self-help books for January, since a lot of people would be reading them for New Year's Resolutions. But then we thought that no one would want to confess to a public forum what self-help they're needing, so we nixed the idea.

So, suggestions for December's Reading Challenge? Should we just do cliche and say something to do with Christmas or winter etc?
