Kristina Spencer | 10 comments Okay. For some reason this is bugging me.
The book is set somewhere in the early to mid-1800's (I believe) I remember the
heroine's name is Lucy and I can't remember the her last name, but the hero's name is Rapheal Montegue. It's kinda like the Cinderella story. Yes. The evil stepmom and two
dumb stepsisters. Anyways. The hero and heroine first meet in Ireland when they're walking on the opposite sides of a cliff (or something) and they start quoting poetry at each other. But the heroine realizes that the hero is English and gets upset and walks off. Somehow it looks like she falls off a cliff and the hero freaks out for most of the book. But the hero goes about his business of dealing with the estate that his cousin left him (the one the cousin stole from the heroine and her family, hence the heroines dislike for the English) The somehow meet up in London when the hero is trying to make amends to the stepmom and sisters (Lucy goes as a maid, so she can stay out of sight) And they have this kinda cat and mouse game going on, until he puts the pieces together of who she is. He asks her to marry him, but she says no. So she moves into her old family home, to become his housekeeper. And they live like that while they're trying to repair the house. They ended up getting mad at each other after they... well, you know. She still doesn't want to marry him. She feels it'll betray her father if she married into the family that destroyed him.
An evil somebody tries to burn down the house and that's when they make up, because she realizes that all her dad wanted for her was to be happy.
Hopefully this makes some sense, and hopefully someone can find it for me..

You're welcome. :) Sounds like an interesting retelling of the Cinderella story.

Kristina Spencer | 10 comments It was! My favorite parts were the ones that involved the stepsisters. They were just to air headed to hate. :)

That's a nice change. It takes away some of the nastiness of the classic step-sisters.

Kristina Spencer | 10 comments That it does.
How'd you find it by the way? The description I gave was kinda crazy..

Your description was great with a lot of specific keywords. I did a Google search that looked only at Amazon.com (reader reviews are particularly helpful):

site:amazon.com historical romance cinderella irish english
