Wow, only 2 more months left! How is your reading good? I see some good books and comments. I'll have to try some of them.

Now for November's challenge:
1. Read a book by an author whose name starts with J. Can you believe I forgot it?
2. Read a book whose title has a J in it.
3. With autumn in full swing, read a book about fall or autumn.
4. With Armistice or Veteran's Day this month, read a book about peace.
5. With the holiday shopping season fast approaching, read a book about shopping.
6. Read a book about motorcycles.
7. Read a book art or an artist.
8. Read a classic book.
9. Your choice.

Colleen Mertens | 56 comments So for my art book, I read "Blue Princess Takes the Stage". It is about a children's musical theater production. The main character, Emma, wants but doesn't get the main part. The story follows how she handles herself and the role she received. It was a cute book recommended by my daughter.

Rachel Ben-Hur by Lew Wallace 11/8/13
It was well-written for its time period, but the language style and all the descriptions made it a little hard to read at times. There were some glaring theological problems as well. However, it's a pretty interesting read.

Rachel Her Royal Spyness (Her Royal Spyness Mysteries, #1) by Rhys Bowen 11/10/13
This mystery series is hysterical. It's well-written, and the characters are well drawn.

Rachel Royal Blood (Her Royal Spyness Mysteries, #4) by Rhys Bowen 11/11/13
This mystery series is hysterical. It's well-written, and the characters are well drawn.

Takes place during the fall.

Rachel Naughty in Nice (Her Royal Spyness Mysteries, #5) by Rhys Bowen 11/15/13
This mystery series is hysterical. It's well-written, and the characters are well drawn.

Quite a bit about art collecting and a forged painting.

Rachel Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance An Inquiry Into Values by Robert M. Pirsig 11/23/13
This was well-written and thought-provoking at times; however, there was too much philosophy for me to find it entertaining, and the frame narrative wasn't well developed at all. I also felt that the characters weren't developed as well as they could've been. For being based off the author's real life, there was too much left unexplained.

I'm finally catching up after returning from my cruise at the beginning of the month. I haven't been reading much because of it. Well, the Hallmark Channel's Christmas movies haven't helped either. Hope everyone is doing well.

Whimsy was a wonderful book. Sometimes the point of view changed and I had to re-read to figure out who was telling the story but it is a wonderful picture of small town life.

Colleen Mertens | 56 comments Ha, funny Sheila that you haven't been reading much because of Hallmark Christmas movies. Neither have I for the same reason. So one book I did manage to read was A Plain and Simple Christmas by Amy Clipston. It is a good Amish fiction book. The book is a good read about family and reconcilation. Great easy read for Christmas.

message 16: by Rachel (new)

Rachel The Time Traveler's Wife (Special Edition) by Audrey Niffenegger 11/25/13
This was a well-written and intriguing novel. I really found the premise interesting, and I enjoyed the characters. It was a lot of fun to read.

Colleen Mertens | 56 comments So I finished another Amish Christmas book "Naomi's gift". It was good. I liked the characters and enjoyed seeing what happened to them. I like the interactions between characters in this book and "A Plain and Simple Christmas". Nice read for people ready to get into the Christmas spirit.

message 18: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Vision in White (Bride Quartet, #1) by Nora Roberts 11/28/13
This was a well-written and sweet novel. I really enjoyed the characters and look forward to reading the rest of the quartet. It was a lot of fun.

Colleen Mertens | 56 comments So I just finished a Mitford Christmas box set. It was 2 super short Christmas stories. They were both cute and Esther's Gift reminded us of what really matters at Christmas. Good quick reads. Both took 30 minutes tops.
