Martyn Halm (amsterdamassassinseries) | 48 comments Because I write suspense with some romance thrown in (and some readers have told me to label it romantic suspense), I'd like to read some quality romantic suspense:
- believable characters
- a setting that is not tacked on
- believable action/suspense
- believable romantic scenes
- consistency in character development
- no paranormal activities (supernatural, werewolf, vampire, etcetera)

If anyone has suggestions, let me know. Romantic suspense that does not live up to my expectations might get a review as well, see http://amsterdamassassin.wordpress.co...

Sounds interesting, Gerald. If you have a review copy available (epub preferred, mobi also accepted), you can send it to katlasieltjes@yahoo.com

I sent you an email, Carmen, but it came back with an error. Are you sure that's the right email? If you have a review copy for me, please send an epub (or mobi) to katlasieltjes@yahoo.com

Thank you, Gerald. I checked the Amazon sample.

Privately? Or here? Because I wasn't impressed by the sample.

Gerald Griffin (authorgeraldggriffin) | 306 comments Which sample? There are 16 of them, 15 of which are either 5 or 4 stars, only one a 3. I've read them all, and most of them are quite impressive. For example, the one by Cynthia Westland, ending with:

"The fast pace and suspense of the novel kept me engaged from beginning to end. One of the best books of the year, OF GOOD AND EVIL has all the elements of a best seller, and more. A true masterpiece!"

If that doesn't impress you, nothing will! In addition, the book is to be made into a movie, and its Producer, Alexandria Altman, stated: "With OF GOOD AND EVIL you have a GIANT on your hands; a major motion picture!

Perhaps OF GOOD AND EVIL is not your cup of tea, though it is of many others. I suggest you forget about reviewing the book.

You're not talking about samples, but reviews. And yes, your reviews are impressive.

However, the sample I read is the 'Look Inside' provided by Amazon that allowed me to read your first chapter. And I'm sorry to say, but I wasn't impressed.

No worries. Apparently sixteen reviewers were impressed and you cannot please everyone. Perhaps I'm more critical than most.

Also, while I'm pleased for you that you sold the movie options for your book, I have my own ideas about movie adaptations of books.

Gerald Griffin (authorgeraldggriffin) | 306 comments A pity you couldn't read the entire book. The first chapter gives you no idea of what's to come, especially the captivating love story, an intergral part of the novel. As Shane Porteous, a reviewer, said of the love story:

"Of the 100s and 100s of books that I have read in my life, the love between AMBER and RON, the the main characters OF GOOD AND EVIL, was by far the most genuine romance that I have ever read about."

Maybe this is one of the reasons the novel has been acclaimed to be a masterpiece, and by more than one source.

One chapter a story does not make.

No, it doesn't. However, your first chapter did fail to engage me on several levels, so I'm probably not the intended audience.

I'll take your suggestion and forget about your book.

Martyn Halm (amsterdamassassinseries) | 48 comments Hi Zureika,

I read the sample on Amazon, but Taken failed to engage me and the little I read still seems to need more editing. Please keep in mind that I'm probably more critical than most readers.

I wish you good luck with your writing.
