Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments By my reckoning, we only have authors U and X and Titles, O and X. Is that correct, Monsieur Mango?

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments Barb, what did you think of The Fault in Our Stars. It was well written, but a sobfest. I'm tossing up whether to brave the movie, next year.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments Sallie, I'm a Virgin River fan too. Not my usual thing but the place and characters just suck you in. I'm up to Bring Me Home for Christmas- perfect for this time of the year.

Yes, exactly what you said -- well written, but what a tear-jerker! If I see the movie, I'll probably wait until it's out on DVD so I can watch it in the privacy of my own home :)

Monsieur Mango Tango (mangotangoNBRC) | 99 comments Okay, I think we're all updated through message 256.

Please let me know if I missed anything!

message 258: by Barb (new)

Barb Anyone have a series #13? :D I've got my hands on the X author book I've been talking about, I just need to read a couple of the new release books I have before I can start it *sigh*

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments I could read no 13 in In Death series.. Should be able to get to it next week.

Was somebody reading a J title? I think I may have an O.

message 260: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) I'll be reading Sookie 13 after I finish Kate Daniels 4. :)

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments Okay, Steven, I'll leave Lucky 13 to you then...

message 262: by Barb (new)

Barb Lisa - (Aussie Girl) wrote: "Was somebody reading a J title? I think I may have an O."

I have a J title on my list for December, but I'm not sure how soon I'll get to it. If someone else fills in that spot first, I won't be upset about it :)

message 263: by Jane (new)

Jane | 206 comments Finished Tethers by Jack Croxall 228 pages.

I am sometimes annoyed that I just have this need to finish all books I start. It took me 7 days to read this 228 page book as I kept putting it down.

message 264: by Barb (new)

Barb Update, a bit late (again! sorry), but none of them fit our empty slots:

12/5 - finished No Place Like Home (Camilla Randall #3), by Anne R. Allen - 267 pages
fits series #3, N title, A author

12/5 - finished Christmas Bliss (Savannah #4), by Mary Kay Andrews - 294 pages
fits series #4, C title, M/A author

12/6 - finished Heresy (Giordano Bruno #1), by S.J. Parris - 435 pages
fits series #1, H title, S/P author

12/7 - finished The Grave Gourmet (Capucine Culinary #1), by Alexander Campion - 320 pages

12/8 - finished Read It and Weep (Library Lover's #4), by Jenn McKinlay - 304 pages
fits series #4, R title, J/M author

Barb Jane wrote: "It took me 7 days to read this 228 page book as I kept putting it down."

That's painful :( You need to learn to let go, Jane? :)

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments I wonder if Mango Tango has reached it's target for the tower teams challenge. We must be close if not finished.

message 267: by Barb (new)

Barb Well, if this is accurate, we're still about 300 books away from finishing. That doesn't seem right, though, so I hope I'm looking at the wrong thing!

Is everyone still tagging their books for this? That would make a big difference ....

message 268: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) I'll do a check and update our team spreadsheet tomorrow and see how far off we are.

I doubt we've finished, as we had a LOT of BAPs help push us to third place too!

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments I'm definitely still tagging. I'll keep going then.

message 270: by Jane (new)

Jane | 206 comments Barb wrote: "Jane wrote: "It took me 7 days to read this 228 page book as I kept putting it down."

I know but I don't think I can LOL

message 271: by Barb (new)

Barb It's hard to learn to do, that's for sure! But when you finally do, it's really nice not feeling obligated to finish every book you start :)

message 272: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Finished Magic Bleeds by Ilona Andrews on 12/10, fits I or A author, M title, or #4 in a series

message 273: by Steven (last edited Dec 10, 2013 10:39AM) (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Okay, so I've updated our team spreadsheet, based off of what has been tagged to the Mango Tango shelf. I know Sallie has quite a few she's read since she last tagged a book to the mango tango shelf on 11/21, so our total will be a few books higher.

Without ANY BAPs, we're at 1100 books before Sallie tags those few extras.

Keep on reading everyone! :)

message 274: by Barb (new)

Barb Oh my ... we have a long way to go till we hit 1350 books LOL

message 275: by Karla (new)

message 277: by Diane L (new)

Diane L I moved on the 4th and have been unpacking boxes and putting beds together and so forth all day every day. I have managed to listen to 3 audiobooks in that two weeks.

A Week in Winter by Maeve Binchy

message 278: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Hope your move went well and you get settled soon :)

message 279: by Barb (new)

Barb I just thought about this thread yesterday, Steven, so I'm right there with you. I think one of the books I've read since my last update fills a gap -- the X author -- but I don't think any of the others fit any of our blanks but here they are:

12/10 - The Colony: The Harrowing True Story of the Exiles of Molokai, by John Tayman
fits C title, J/T author

12/10 - Unbound (Booklover’s #2), by Julie Kaewert

message 280: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Oh, I did finish Dead Ever After by Charlaine Harris for our slot #13 in a series!

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments I've got an "O" title book coming up the first of the month.

message 282: by Barb (new)

Barb I didn't look at the list, so I didn't see that we still need an O title -- but I just finished an O book last night, One Imperfect Christmas!

My J title has been put on hold, but I don't know for how long. Didn't someone else say they had a J book on tap?

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments Oh good Barb, that just leaves J and X in the titles then.

message 284: by Karla (new)

Karla I said I had a J book. I started Just One Year by Gayle Forman, but I realized that I had forgotten key details of Just One Day, so I put it on hold. Then I had to return Just One Year. I now have both books and will be reading them soon.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments Good one Karla. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you.

message 286: by Barb (new)

Barb Ohhhh, so good to know my memory isn't *totally shot :) So I guess the only letter we need to finish our titles is X ... yikes! Are we going to go for an actual X as the first letter? Or will we cut ourselves a break and take a title that has an X in it?

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments I say give ourselves a Christmas present and just go for an X somewhere in the title. Is there an actual book starting with an X..(goes to check)

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments Of course there is... if you want to read about Xylophones or Xavier, etc,LOL..

message 289: by Barb (new)

Barb I have one called X-Dames, but I can't read it till after January 1 or I'll mess up my A-Z title plan for 2014 :)

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 240 comments X - Dames it is then, Barb.

message 291: by Barb (new)

Barb It may be awhile before I get to it, but if we're still working on this when I read it, I'll happily fill in the spot. In the meantime, if anyone else reads a title with an X in it, feel free to claim that line in the challenge :)

Jane | 206 comments Welcome back Sallie and Happy New Year to all.

I meant to do some dishes today and to take the Christmas decorations down, but what happened?

I started reading Magic Bleeds last night and finished it today around noon.I then went for a walk with intentions to do my chores when I got back.

When I got back I thought I will just sit for a minute before starting and I can read the first chapter of Magic Slays. Now 6 hours later I have finished the book but the house still looks like a disaster zone! I totally blame you Steven. lol
A good thing I am still waiting for the next book from the library!
