I connected with your moderator, Leila and she was so kind to suggest I say hello and offer up my two memoirs for reading opportunities.
I have been involved with Goodreads for a time, but haven't taken advantage - until now - of all the possibilities. It's wonderful.
ACCIDENTAL LESSONS was my first book, published in 2009, it's the story of a tumultuous year - personally and professionally - while I taught school in a troubled district in the Chicago area. It won the Royal Dragonfly Grand Prize for Literature. I was so very humbled and honored.
My newest book is ANY ROAD WILL TAKE YOU THERE. It's the true story of a 5000-mile road trip, a family secret, and the uneven and untidy ties that bind fathers and sons. The book is a finalist for the Chicago Writers Association Book Award for 2013. AND - this book will be part of a giveaway Nov. 1-4. Please feel free to take advantage.
I very much look forward to getting to know many of you. Thanks so much for reading memoirs!
Welcome to the group, David. I am presently very busy arriving at the final edit of my early-childhood memoir "Time Travel into Babyhood", but I'll see you around in this group when I get time to breathe.
