Just finished. I liked it, but i was bored from about 50% up until near the end. :(

I found the second half a bit of a struggle. from around the 50% mark it was like 'how long is this book?'

Yeah, it felt a lot longer than what it was at that point.
The ending made up for it though. :)

Cam was pretty dull. His chapters were rubbish.

Chapter 10
(view spoiler)[So far it's pretty interesting. We've got an introduction for the main 3 characters. I think it's horrible what they are doing with the kids. To know from your birth that you are state property and will be killed. to even be asked to see it as normal. *shudders* (hide spoiler)]

I really dislike the writing style. I feel frustrated by it!! It sounds way too... informative, considering the situations described in this book. I mean, we're talking about KIDS RUNNING AWAY BECAUSE THEY'RE ABOUT TO BE KILLED. That's quite emotional, don't you think..? How can the author be so nonchalant about it?

I don't want to sound like a men-hater or anything of the sort, but I think it's kind of obvious that this book was written by a man. I mean, the emotions are not well explored here (so far anyway) and from my experience with YA books, women authors tend to do that better. (hide spoiler)]

Okay so I reached chapter 11. I haven't changed my mind yet about this book. I am STILL disappointed and hope it will get better soon!!

16% end of chapter 8 - (view spoiler)[Wow I absolutely love the writing style and the fact that the kids are cool and quite clever. The different POVs help too. I also like the fact that some people (like the Pastor and Lev's older brother) are against this unwinding thing. Most dystopian books I've read, everyone seems to agree with the follies of the authority and it's really annoying when everyone thinks it's good except for the main character. (hide spoiler)]

@- Sapir - OMG. I strongly disagree haha! I loved the writing style! I'm so done with self-pitying characters. They wear me down. (view spoiler)[I think the tone is just appropriate. Their main goal as of the moment is to survive and there's no time for self pitying. That's what I think. :D (hide spoiler)]

I see what you mean.. But I do find HUMAN emotions necessary in every book. It is human to feel sorry for yourself sometimes..

@Sapir - Ah that's true. But they did feel sorry for themselves on the first chapters but they've moved on quickly. Maybe because it happens to most kids it's already very common?
