Awww, I'm sorry Becky, but I had to disable the option for everyone to be able to add to the bookshelves, after someone removed several of the books. :[
If you PM me with your favorites , I can add them.

It would be great if everyone would post what they are currently reading, and books they just finished... including their reviews. :D

I am just starting my first 'true crime' read~
The Stranger Beside Me: Ted Bundy The Shocking Inside Story

The Stranger Beside Me: Ted Bundy The Shocking Inside Story
Red QueenI just started the red queen last night. So far it is really interesting but I am also only about 50 pages in. I will let you know how it goes. I just finished In the Shadow of Blackbirds and really loved it. It is PG-13 for some blood and language but captures the feel of 1918 really well with an added paranormal side. Perfect read for a stormy fall weekend.
I tried to read red queen by Victoria Aveyard, and found it to be one of the biggest young adult rip offs out there.

The1selectioner wrote: "I tried to read red queen by Victoria Aveyard, and found it to be one of the biggest young adult rip offs out there."How is it a rip off?
The author doesn't have an original thought in her head. All she did was combine The Selection with Graceling. To top it all off, she writes a substandard novel. All in all Victoria Aveyard is a no talent hack, who can't write worth a darn.

The1selectioner wrote: "The author doesn't have an original thought in her head. All she did was combine The Selection with Graceling. To top it all off, she writes a substandard novel. All ..."Then I'll be sure to stay away from those. Thanks!
I have read both the selection and graceling and didn't feel as though the Red Queen was ripping them off. I can see where you could feel that way but you can also give the same point with every YA fantasy. I mean there are hundreds of novels that have element powers or arraigned marriages. It might be that I have just read so many fantasy novels that I naturally expect similarities and can separate the worlds in my head. That being said, I really enjoyed the Red Queen and would recommend it to others. Very little language, maybe two times in the book and kissing.

Becky, I think there might have been a misunderstanding. I didn't mean to suggest that you shouldn't read The Selection or Graceling. In fact quite the contrary, I HIGHLY recommend The Selection It's one of my absolute favorites.

I understand what your saying. I too have noticed, in my reading, that there are similarities among young adult novels but in my experience I've found there's a difference between authors using similar themes and authors just plain copycatting.

I'm currently reading Don't Die, My Love by Lurlene McDaniel and I'm also rereading The One by Kiera Cass.

Ramla, was The Perfect Hope by Nora Roberts a clean read?
I tried to read, I believe it was The Witness by her and it had so much cursing, that I just stopped reading and returned it to the library, unfinished. :[
Could you suggest titles by her that are clean, if any? Thanks.
I just finished and was very happy with ~
[bookcover:Married In Seattle|4704788]

and now I am reading a cozy mystery~
 and am enjoying it.

Thank you Ramla. Yes, I really like Debbie Macomber romances. This Matter Of Marriage by her is a favorite that I am getting ready to read for the third time, it's so sweet and funny, and so much fun! Rereading is very rare for me.
Appreciate the warning about the Nora Roberts books.

I am almost finished with the YA post-apocalyptic book Divergent which is the first book in a trilogy by Veronica Roth. I am enjoying it quite a bit, and appreciate that it is not full of profanity and 'F' bombs, which I refuse to listen to, let alone read!

I just started Emma by Jane Austen and The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith. I'm also reading Dragons of Autumn Twilight the dragonlance chronicles volume 1. I recently finished Home for the Holidays by Heather Vogel Frederick, which I enjoyed.

      I am reading~

but doubtful I will finish it ,as there is really descriptive gruesome gore!
So up next I have Insurgent [which is book #2] on my Kindle borrowed from my library, to read.

      I am currently reading

by Brandon Sanderson, and will be starting

for my book group as soon as I find a copy, and I'm looking for something to listen on on Audible.

I finished the second book in the Divergent trilogy~Insurgent[another 5-star read] now while I am waiting for the last book to be returned to the library, I am reading, and enjoying ~ The Haunting of Maddy Clare

That sounds like a great read!!!!!"
I'm at 82% and it really was a great read, despite having a few "F" bombs and GDs near the beginning, and one sex scene towards the middle. The story was so gripping that I couldn't stop reading, until I went to bed!

Now I am reading a YA post apocalyptic~

Becky, I read that Brandon Sanderson writes good supernatural fiction, so I want to check him out, plus 'I am Malala' is a definite must read!

I'm almost done with Spelled by Betsy Schow. ( which I'm thoroughly enjoying and would definitely recommend) I'm also starting Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I have a question: Where is the best place to buy classics?

Re:Where is the best place to buy classics?
I would say Amazon, where you can buy books from third parties used-in-'like new' condition, very low cost.
There is also Abe's Books and Books4U.
I finished Reese's Cowboy Kiss: Witness Protection - Rancher Style: Blake's Story (Sweet Montana Bride #1)
by Kimberly Krey which was nothing special, and am now reading~
 and enjoying it.

You are welcome. I have been an avid Amazon customer since '98.IMO their AtoZ guarantee is the best there is, bar none.

I am reading ~Snow Angel Cove (Haven Point, #1) by RaeAnne Thayne, and am so happy to have found a clean/nonreligious contemporary series with a cowboy/executive hero, what's not to love, (swoon)!

Could not finish Blackberry Summer, not clean, and too many unlikeable characters, including the H/h.
So I am now reading on my Kindle, the post-apocalyptic~

Couldn't get past 41% of the extremely bleak One Second After, too much gore, profanity and cardboard characters.
Now reading the interesting nonfiction~

Now I'm reading ~Lab 257: The Disturbing Story of the Government's Secret Plum Island Germ Laboratory by Michael C. Carroll Based on declassified government documents, in-depth interviews, and access to Plum Island itself, this is an eye-opening, suspenseful account of a federal government germ laboratory gone terribly wrong. For the first time, Lab 257 takes you deep inside this secret world and presents startling revelations on virus outbreaks, biological meltdowns, infected workers, the periodic flushing of contaminated raw sewage into area waters, and the insidious connections between Plum Island, Lyme disease, and the deadly West Nile virus. The book also probes what's in store for Plum Island's new owner, the Department of Homeland Security, in this age of bioterrorism.

I'm over halfway through The Siren byKiera Cass ( Which happens to be my most anticipated novel of 2016. Followed closely by The Crown the fifth and final book in The Selection Series by Kiera Cass.) And I'm still reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Which is definitely going to be one of my all-time favorites.

I just finished reading Lost December by Richard Paul EvansLost December Although it followed the story line of the biblical Prodigal Son, I did not feel that it was religious. One of the best books I have ever read.

      C. wrote: "Becky wrote: "I am currently reading

I think they're straight fantasies with differing magic systems in each series. But, I suppose it just depends on your definition.
I just finished One Second After (I enjoyed the idea of the alas babylon story but the language and non developing characters hurt the story, stick to alas, babylon) and then moved on to The Boy on the Porch (short and simple read) now I am about to start Serafina and the Black Cloak

I am reading The Baron's Honourable Daughter I just started it last night so I have no updates on how it is. I really loved Serafina and the black cloak, it is a great supernatural middle grade thriller. Easy and fast read too.

I finished The Siren by Kiera Cass last month and I really liked it. I found it to be a very unique and original story and would definitely recommend it. Since then I've been on a Selection series marathon, in preparation for The Crown the fifth and final book in The Selection series by Kiera Cass.

Prejudice Meets Pride was a fun read that would easily have rated 5-stars if the heroine and the kids had been more likeable and more deserving of the Hero.
Now going to start

I got in a rut of 2 and 3 star books and needed to go back to my comfort zone and am reading the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I just keep restarting the series and will pick it up where I left off in the order of things as I need a palate cleanser. I am next in line for a few books I am excited about at the library. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and The Sword of Summer hopefully I will have better luck with these.

I hate when that happens. Be sure to let us know how these books turn out for you.
I really should read book 3 of the HP series. I've only read the first two, but enjoyed them very much.
