I don’t know. I figured I’d see how far I got with this one. When I finish cataloguing the contents, I’m going to go back and skim the contests for quirky, humorous comments.
Indeed! The haiku thread is a gold mine of witty comments. This thread relates strictly to the story contests, though.
Wow! Somebody read the comments! Thank you, Alex. I’ve thought about coming up with a list of comments from the chat thread and the Popcorn Served thread.
I read through them this morning. I frequently had to stop and wonder what context made us say such things.
Oh gosh. These are hilarious. I'm probably going to go read through all the old contest threads now. Between that and reading through all the comments on the Haiku thread, I think I'm set for reading material for the entire year. :)

The first line in each entry lists the week number, the topic, the month and year in which that week’s contest started, and the moderator who posted the contest. Following is a list of the stories posted in that week’s contest.
Rather than using the polls, I’ve skimmed the contest threads. In the older threads, many of the stories have been taken down by their authors and don’t appear in the list. For each week, the stories are listed in the order they were posted.
In some of the stories submitted, the author has supplied his or her name. In such instances, I’ve used the name supplied. When no name has been supplied, I’ve used the name in the message bar. Sometimes I’ve suppled a last name to clarify, but only if the author has posted it before, and usually in situations in which stories have been posted by members who have the same first name.
In instances in which the name of a story has been posted in all caps, in the table of contents I’ve changed it to upper- and lower case; however, for the most part I’ve retained other inappropriate capitalizations (or the lack of capitalization) and have preserved misspellings.
At the end is a short compilation of remarks that grabbed my attention as I was looking through the threads.
Naturally, some of the titles stand out for me as memorable, as imaginative or poetic. Here are a few of them: “Hamish Countibee and His Forget Me Not Mother,” “The Ragpicker of Dharavi,” “A Model Daughter,” “Cri Hal’s Mistake,” “The Closeted Singularity,” “A Pleasant Conversation in Less Than Ideal Circumstances,” “The Tale of a Nail: The Short Biography of a Prison Pedicurist,” “Haruspication,” “The Unwritten Room,” “Stranded on an Island of Mortals,” “Schlorp,” “For the Want of a Finger, a Saint was Gagged,” and “Today You Are Beautiful.”
In Week 8, Alex posted “A Pirate Poem.” Pirates have been referenced or have figured as characters in various things posted in the group, particularly in the “Get To Know Your Character” thread. As far as I can tell, however, the first references to the W.S.S. as a group of pirates were made by Stephanie, on January 17, 2011, when she put up the Week 66 contest. In the Week 65 story contest thread, she posted, “The polls are up you bunch of pirates!” and a few minutes later, in the poetry contest thread, “The polls are up ye rowdy pirates!” In the Week 66 poetry contest, she posted, “Have fun ye pirates!” A few days later, she remarked, “Maybe I’ll just call you all pirates.”
