I just finished watching "the Duchess"! I'm so stunned by the performance of Knightley & Fiennes!Even the though, the Duke of Dovenshire was a prick, I couldn't help but admire his acting!& the duchess reminded me of kathrine of aragon!she had to go through almost similar situations!georgiana had to bear bess and katherine had to bear ann boleyn! I have, like the utmost respect for strong women like these!but i still can't believe that someone can be that harsh, given the circumstances georgiana had to go through!i cant imagine the pain she felt when she gave up her daughter!most of you are women and can imagine!so sad and so true!!!!

Oh and chatsworth is beautiful!!!

The movie is based on a book, but I can't think of the author. I think there was a thread about this movie/book around the time the movie came out in the U.S. So, duh, suffiyan! ;)

The book is by Amanda Foreman and it is also called The Duchess. I have not read the book but I also loved the movie - excellent acting and the story is heartbreaking. Well do watch the movie. Oh & have you checked the latest "The Young Victoria"? It stars Emily Blunt (from The Devil Wears Prada which I loved by the way!) as Queen Victoria.

Oh, I haven't even heard of that movie! It sounds good. Emily Blunt played the other assistant in Devil Wears Prada, didn't she? I like her (if I'm thinking of the right girl).

I loved The Duchess so much that I watched it a couple times in the theater. I haven't checked recently, but is it on DVD yet?

Also, is "The Young Victoria" a film or is it a miniseries?

Netflix also has Young Victoria, which seems to be a film.
