I love Twittering but I haven't found too much success with it--a little. I did a book drawing once for Follow Friday recommendations. Other members here can follow me on twitter @DanielleThorne.
Anyone interested can follow my tweets at http://twitter.com/JoyceDiPastena (You'd know all about my broken pipe if you did!)

Oops, Joyce! Your link doesn't work. You have to move the period at the end. http://twitter.com/JoyceDiPastena
Thanks, Jaimey! Ah the pitfalls of being a writer who thinks all sentences should end with a period! LOL! I'll go back and fix it. (Even though you already fixed it for me. ;-) )
Well, I've been stalking Joyce forever now. :oP
I am now stalking you too, Danielle. How did you get so many followers? I am always shocked when someone has thousands. Does it require a lot of effort? I find my time so divided these days that twitter only gets checked maybe once a day for ten minutes or so. :o(

I had been on Twitter, but could never understand it. (Yes, I'm Twitter-illiterate! LOL) Then I read on my computer security newsletter about how hackers/spammers have invaded it, etc., that I decided it wasn't worth it.Frankly, I couldn't understand the attraction, though..Miss Mae scratches head in confusion...
It's just another way to spread info. I know a lot of people quite literally use it to update everyone on what they're doing every second of the day but I use it to get helpful info on book marketing, tips from agents and editors, and to learn about book giveaways and contests. I announce when I do a new blog post, new giveaway, new review, etc. I "retweet" links about marketing and writing. Like I said earlier, though, I only spend a very limited amount of time on there.
I think the biggest draw for people is the limit of 140 characters on every post. And honestly, it can be a challenge to get an entire idea into so small a sentence. LOL :o)

lol--just another avenue huh? i started really really early when Twitter came out--and after a week or two i went in to people i was following friends' and just added like several hundred people. so i was following hundreds more than i had. eventually though, they followed me back and it grew. i only added people who looked like readers or authors, the best i could. i also signed on with Social Too dot com--which auto follows anyone who follows you so you don't have to. having so many followers i can tell when i need help with votes or put out info if there is much change. there rarely is. i don't think it's that productive at all--sometimes--but you have to work hard to get attention and tweet regularly. i do notice some increase on my website hits. i go in spurts.
hope this helps!

Here's my twitter link. I do try not to be too boring, but every now and again I must confess to posting what I'm having for dinner.http://twitter.com/gcolliasuzuki
Speaking as someone who just came close to choking to death on a gherkin... mealtimes can be way too entertaining (for my husband) in this household.
okay, I restored my account...*sigh*...after last night's chat with Starr Thomson, I thought "well, maybe"...so I am http://twitter.com/AuthorMissMaeFind me, people,..LOL..
I do tweet, but not often. I have my DianeFarr twitter account linked to my Facebook fan page, so if you sign up to follow me (or become a "fan" on Facebook), you'll probably only hear from me about once a week!Diane

I joined twitter recently, but frankly haven't gotten the hang of it. Love Facebook, though. Any authors out there think that also having a fan page on Facebook is a good idea?
My Twitter addy is http://twitter.com/HywelaLynAuthorI find it useful for announcements but I don't use it for trivia (I think life's too short LOL)
I understand that Facebook doesn't like authors to use their pages for promotion, so one should have a FanPage for that purpose. *Sigh* It looked a bit 'commercial' to me so I set up a group for 'Friends' wit the idea of promoting, but I think I should have set up a fanpage instead!
So the regular pages we start with, what ARE we supposed to use them for? *Miss Mae looks perplexed*
Supposedly for just social chitchat, pets, pics, etc. I think - BUT there are heaps of authors on there, including me, who have book covers, links etc and who make no secret of the fact we have books to sell - and we haven't been struck off yet, LOL! I do tend to use mine a bit like a blog, in that it's not JUST book related, but if I've something to say that is, I say it!
If anyone here is an expert on Facebook I think thre are several of us who'd be grateful for some guidance. It actually took me a long time to take the plunge and get on to Facebook and I'm still feeling my way around, despite having three My Spaces, a Bebo account and Tweeting!
I adore Facebook and am a total addict. I'll go hunt for you and send you a friend request. :)http://www.wickedcoolbooks.wordpress.com

A similar thread was started in a few of my other groups so I thought I'd start one here.
Twitter is fun and can be very rewarding, especially for those of you who are authors or aspiring to be.
So, do you twitter? What's your twitter address? Here's mine: http://twitter.com/jaimeygrant
If you have questions, please ask. I'm still relatively new to twitter but I will answer as best I can.
Have a lovely day! :o)
