Samantha The Escapist (greatescapist) | 81 comments Okay soooo obviously my project is one where magic exists, but what's the limit on plausibility? The premise and purpose behind it isn't so important as how I'm hoping to explain it.

For various reasons, the religious leaders of a certain area had a dream of turning their faction into a whole new race of people (a glorious country of their own)and cast some sort of binding spell to cause certain genetic traits (hair, skin and eye colour, physical shape) to become more dominant in babies conceived and born in the area.

Over a few generations' time, the general populace at large reflected these changes.

Please know that there is a TON of explanation behind this and other historic events that play into making it possible, (things that would take forever to explain) I'm just curious if that sort of magic hoodoo is too unrealistic and would cause eye rolling in readers.

I'm also in the brainstorm chat channel right now if anyone wants to pop in to discuss. Thanks!

Selena This kind of sounds like the group-novel I'm writing with friends without the magic.

Purvika (violetstygian) | 57 comments I like the concept. There is absolutely no eye rolling in there. But yeah the details will be crucial because it all depends on how when etc etc. And if using magic then magical creatures will exist too. And a new race sound cool. Like the leader want a complete country of undefeatable( is it even a word lol...sounds cool though :p ) race to rule the world. You can give this leader some kind of magic binding for his timeless age... I mean immortality kind. That way he will be rude, arrogant and the ruthless leader who want nothing more than rule the world. It can be an awesome Dystopian story.
