Jessica Bell (jessica_bell) | 61 comments Hello,

I need to change the cover of this to the final version which will go to print.

I'm the editor of the book and I added the book myself.

How can I go about uploading a new file?

Best wishes,
Jessica

Gerd | 1050 comments If you got librarian status you can use "edit details" on the book page - lower right corner in the description field.

On the following page select "delete photo" and it will allow you to upload a new image from your PC.

Jessica Bell (jessica_bell) | 61 comments I've tried that but it won't let me. I wouldn't have messaged you here if I could do that. :-)

Kyra (kylen) I'm having the same problem with my books...

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 6325 comments See author FAQs at top of this group's discussions -- https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... FAQ 3 and 4 — and thousands of other "change my book cover" threads here.

Covers don't get deleted (except in unusual circumstances like someone accidentally uploaded cover of "Charlotte's Web" to "Cat In The Hat," a site bug made image not display so had to be re-uploaded, an obvious "coming soon" pre-publication placeholder, etc.).

If you have a new or updated cover, a new edition gets made and combined with all the other editions. ("Alternate cover edition").

Then you as author can set which bookcover displays on your author page, search results, series info, etc. -- what goodreads calls the "primary" or default edition. If you don't set, goodreads just uses the most popular/rated edition.

What you cannot do is delete an existing bookcover off the personal book shelves and lists of goodreads members whether or not they've also reviewed or rated; no vandalizing our bookshelves, please! Again, just see the author FAQs.

If not comfortable creating the alternate cover editions (or unsure how after checking FAQs and guidelines in help/librarians-manual) -- just ask a librarian to create for you. They'll need to know which book editions need the new cover, a non-bookseller* link to images or that you've loaded new bookcover to your photos here.

*with the takeover, librarians can now use data from amazon so that's an exception to "non-bookseller link"

Then when image change discovered, librarian changelog is accesseed and that change will be revoked. Could take hours, days or even months to happen but the old cover will come back. Again, see author FAQs at top of group discussions (and if you are a librarian that means you are supposed to be following the librarian manual which gets more specific in alternate cover edition policies).

Please read FAQ #3 in particular -- https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Carmen DeSousa (carmendesousa) | 3 comments I joined both GR Librarian Groups per 'help' to change details of my books. Both groups stated to seek the other, so I you can help. My publisher recently updated five of my covers, and I'd love to change them here. Please let me know how to do this. Thank you!

Monique (kadiya) | 1097 comments Jessica,

I see the publication date as December 2013. Has the current cover been used for any ARCs or in any other advance copies?

Monique (kadiya) | 1097 comments Kyra,

We will need to make alternate cover editions for your books. Is it only Game On and Blindsided that have new covers?

ETA: Do both the paperback and Kindle editions need the new cover or just the Kindle editions?

message 10: by Monique (new)

Monique (kadiya) | 1097 comments Carmen,

We will need to make alternate cover editions for those books. Can you please specify which of your books need ACEs and where the new covers can be found?

message 11: by Carmen (new)

Carmen DeSousa (carmendesousa) | 3 comments Thank you, Monique. All of my books in the Southern Suspense Series, She Belongs to Me, Split Decisions, Land of the Noonday Sun, Entangled Dreams, and When Noonday Ends. They are all up on Amazon. I could add here, but I didn't want to mess up your bookshelf, as one post warned, LOL! Just let me know if you need me to do something, and I'll be happy to do it. Thank you!

Jessica,

No worries. I have deleted it so you can upload the cover.

Doesn't make sense, as we are talking about a cover that wasn't actually in use as I gather from her post?

message 17: by Pisceschick (new)

Pisceschick | 34 comments I have finished with Carmen's five books, and here is some info/further questions...

-There was already a "Nantahala Series" created for the books with only two added, but Carmen didn't answer if it needed to be changed or not. So, I have created the "Southern Suspense Series" for Carmen and added ACEs for her books. It is my guess that the "Nantahala Series" just needs to be deleted?

-A different issue with regard to the series, Carmen's website (from author profile) lists the books in the same order as she posted here, but Amazon's book pages list an entirely different order. My suspicion (based on reading her website and comparing the lists and book info) is that the Amazon list is chronological by publication, and her website is chronological by storyline? I went with the website/request/storyline order.

-One of the books (Entangled Dreams) didn't already have a Kindle edition (ebook was listed instead), so it is therefore not noted as being an ACE.

Carmen, you can view this help post about setting the new editions as the default edition: https://www.goodreads.com/help/show/3...

Please let us know if you want the Southern Suspense order changed, and if the Nantahala Series should be deleted. Cheers!

You can't win in that situation. There will always be people who insist on the 'other' reading order. My own preference is always for publication order. I have never come across a series that is better to read in the internal chronology order.

message 19: by Pisceschick (new)

Pisceschick | 34 comments Yeah, I figured I'd go with what the author posted and then just ask her preference. Hopefully she stops back in! If you or another Super would prefer it changed to publication, I would totally defer to that call.

I also cleaned up some of her other titles, two of which had retail links in the description. If you stop by Carmen, a recent-ish discussion about that subject with official responses is here:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 20: by Banjomike (new)

Banjomike | 5166 comments The only time I would change the order is if there was a general agreement that the 'other' order was the best. What might be useful to new readers is to paste the publication order into the series description not as links because the links are already on the series page but just a list of titles. In fact I've just added that. Have a look and see if you are happy with it.

message 21: by Pisceschick (new)

Pisceschick | 34 comments I think that's a great compromise! I would want both sets of information when making my reading decision, and often seek that info out in reviews or the author's website. Thanks!
