Discuss the book here!

The question to think about is:

"When you can’t trust yourself, who can you believe?"

Referring to the quote from the book (above), do you believe that self-trust is necessary in being able to trust others? Or is it our level of trust in others that affects how much we trust ourselves?

Feel free to extend the discussion beyond the questions and simply talk about the book as well :D

Sydney she.her (bewberry) Trust is a key aspect in any relationship. I believe knowing and loving one's self is essential to any relationship you encounter. If you don't love or trust yourself, your acceptance of love or trust would always be questioned. "How could someone love/trust me, when I'm so (shy, outspoken, blunt, secretive, naive, etc)?"
I've seen it so many times in novels where the protagonists think lowly of themselves and are constantly reinforced otherwise, but never accept it because they don't love/know/believe in themselves. Sometimes the relationships work out, but they are forever dependent on positive reinforcement.
“Find yourself first…like yourself first…love yourself FIRST…& friendship & love will naturally find YOU.”

I love that quote, Sydney! Great answer - I think knowing and indeed loving oneself really is the first step in building trust of any kind: trust of oneself and your own decisions, trust in others, etc.
