Obliterated Finished

Very different, very over the top, but very funny.

Obliterated is what would happen if the Mission Impossible Movies and the Hangover Movies had a baby, raised their child in Florida, then set it to the biggest party college in Nevada. Then, after the child discovered there was no "super spy" degree, said child dropped out of college and got a job at the Las Vegas Tourism department.

Definitely not for everyone. It is raunchy, stupid, full of sex, drugs, and guns, but it also has a surprising amount of heart. The relationships can be very sweet, the characters are fun, and if you can suspend disbelief for the duration of the show, it's a fun ride.

Pelageya Kostenko | 2 comments True Detective is brilliant. Season 1 is by far the best, season 3 felt like a great return to the original style. The latest season - Night Country, has been engaging and I love the supernatural elements. I was shocked when they announced the final episode next week at just 6…seems a bit rushed or maybe it’s difficult to keep the audience’s attention these days with so many competing platforms.

Mindhunter on Netflix is a must see also.

I just got around to the last season of Fargo! Brilliant, with David Koresh vibes.

Yes, Reacher is great so far. I'm at season 1, episode 4. I had to pause. But I will resume this week. I should finish before the week ends.

My sister recommended 'Fool Me Once.' It has been mentioned many times in this thread, so it should be good!

I did a quick Google search. 'Breathtaking' and 'Trigger Point' seem interesting. I might add them to my ever-growing list.

I saw Mr and Mrs Smith on Prime. Still tentative.

Aditya | 1631 comments Bojack Horseman (2014 - 2020) by Raphael Bob-Waksberg – No animated movie or TV series has topped this, better than Pixar and Studio Ghibli at its best. It is Netflix’s best original content better than any big name director’s work for them. It starts as comedy and slowly becomes a dramedy about a troubled man learning to reach out. It is a combo of showbiz satire, animal puns, relationship drama and absurd stoner humor with a surprisingly deep understanding of mental health and addiction. Washed up actor Bojack Horseman tries to make a comeback as his ghostwriter Diane, agent Princess Carolyn and unwanted house-guest Todd try to put out his fires and get in zany escapades.

Bojack is selfish, pathetic and keeps making the same mistakes. He is shaped by childhood trauma so his toxic behavior is a defense mechanism. He does not care about anybody because he has not learnt to love himself. He numbs his senses with booze, drugs and sex and uses it as an excuse to be the worst version of himself. Unlike other cartoons, characters develop and grow and choices have consequences. Bojack’s journey to break the pattern usually ends in disappointment but he slowly understands the need for connection. The final season sets up an excellent reckoning for him and it never allows him to get off easy. The penultimate episode of each season is brilliant. As the series goes on the supporting characters get more and more screen time but the show is at its best when the focus is on Bojack.

It is not always perfect. It goes overboard with the satire – at one point it is legal for the rich to kill, characters spell out the subtext and not all the arcs work. The highs easily wash away the lows. The development of the central relationship between Bojack and Diane is excellent. Both feel trapped and unhappy with their lives and reacts badly to it - Diane gets self-righteous, Bojack finds new low points. The digs at celebrity culture are caustic and the quotes about existential dread are honest, layered and relatable. The writing goes from hilarious to heartbreaking without any tonal whiplash. Best show of last decade and it is high praise because it fell bang in the middle of TV’s Golden Age.

I have to update my list.
I've watched Reacher; it is now under favourites.

I'm currently watching Jack Ryan.

'Fool Me Once' was good. I loved the twists. The ending was bittersweet (for me). But I understand why it had to end the way it did.

Want to watch

I haven't watched seasons 9 and 10 of the Blacklist. I want to finish the series. Season 10 was the final season.

Yes, agree! Try "We Were The Lucky Ones" it on Hulu

Based on Georgia Hunter’s New York Times bestselling novel, the television adaptation of “We Were the Lucky Ones” is a limited series inspired by the incredible true story of one Jewish family separated at the start of WWII. The series follows them across continents as they do everything in their power to survive, and to reunite. “

Swat and FBI are on my 'to watch' list.

I love the Rookie. It's one of my favourites. But the quality of the seasons varies.

I haven't watched Season 4 of The Equalizer.

I hope the third season of From is as good or better than the first.

Until I Kill You

Outstanding series.

This short series left me speechless, just blew me away! Not only because of the great actors and performance but also because of how well the story is told, realistic, very strong and at times uncomfortable and frustrating. Once you start watching it you won't be able to stop it!

The first two episodes are the most intense and brutal. The actress Anna Maxwell, in the role of Delia, is simply magnificent! She acts with great strength, power and realism, I can't imagine anyone better, it is simply perfection!

The series reflects on the protection systems that are established around victims of abuse, and she holds responsible those who should contribute to guaranteeing their safety.

The plot is very well structured, marking each of the episodes as outstanding stages in the development of events, and they look very deep into personal obsessions.

Don't miss this one! It is an extremely solid British true crime production that will get under your skin thanks to the excellent performances.

Sweetpea

Black, very funny, very clever, well acted, and violent

But great series

was on Sky

6 episodes

When you are in a tough spot in your life, everything sucks, you are invisible and people around you are the absolute worst, funny ideas can cross your mind. SweetPea take this concept and push it to the extreme, following the life of Rhiannon Lewis (Ella Purnell) an office worker bullied her whole life who suddenly lose her father to illness.

Her fantasies to "remove" people who has done her wrong in her life becomes an obsession as things spiral out of control! Sweet Pea flowers are beautiful to see but they are also toxic, which is the main point of the show.

Although the episode is only 43 minutes including credit, it's insane how much the emotional build up is fantastic. By the end of the episode I understood poor Rhiannon motivation and was hooked. Some movies can't make you feel a thing in 2h, but this show in such a quick lapse of time made me care so much about its plot.

Not only is the writing solid, but the music and the way it is filmed is excellent, which only adds to the intensity of the show. Also how can I not touch on the acting. Is there anything Ella Purnell can't do?! For a lot of people, Ella made fallout such a fantastic show because her acting. This remains true in SweetPea, like in Yellowknife and Fallout. Her acting range is one of the best I have seen in a long time and I can't wait to see where he career will take her!

To summarize, the show is well worth you time and although episode 1 is a build up, it shows amazing potential which is strongly supported by fantastic acting, an engaging story and great atmosphere.

Finished the series

Brilliant, dark, funny, clever and violent

I didn't watch past season 8, because I am a die hard fan of the comics and that was a turning point for me, but I loved what I saw. The first two seasons were the best, by far, in my opinion, but even the seasons that didn't live up to those were fantastic television.
