I've currently entered the world of The Mentalist. I've tried watching it a few times in the past but couldn't get into it. But this time it's stuck and I'm already on season three. Started about a week ago!!

Kirsten (kmcripn) My 8 year old niece is visiting from the Boston area and she has introduced me to Is It Cake? It is crazy ! (With an exceptionally annoying host)

TV Shows, anything television.

We like to talk TV and also a film thread as well as our many books ones.

Enjoy

Also watching Celebrity Masterchef

message 1112: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 29 comments Oooohhh. I didn't realize.
Not much into reality TV. I like the old TV shows. Designing Women, Three's Company, Bewitched, Charmed.

message 1113: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 29 comments Oh, I forgot Happy Days (Yeah Scott Baio!) and Laverne and Shirley.

message 1114: by Jeffrey (new)

Jeffrey Marshall (jmarsh17) | 57 comments New series - "Will Trent." Well-written procedural about a Georgia detective with tremendous intuitive powers and a bizarre backstory - sent to a juvenile facility after his prostitute mother was killed and dealing with enormous emotional baggage from his mistreatment there. He has his uniform - a three-piece tan suit in a world of informality, a frown or a sneer, and a chip on his shoulder as big as a brick. The other characters, including a police detective he grew up with and is a crucial support figure (and sometime lover), are all nicely drawn. We haven't had a detective this smart and eccentric since the modern Sherlock Holmes in "Sherlock."

Will Trent is on Apple TV. I tried watching it but Trent is so far removed from the Will in the books I found it jarring. Couldn't watch it.

message 1124: by Jeffrey (new)

Jeffrey Marshall (jmarsh17) | 57 comments Interesting... I have no knowledge of the books, which obviously colors a viewer's impressions. Still, I think the series is very well scripted and acted, especially by Ramon Martinez (Will).

Susan | 185 comments I enjoyed Who is Erica Carter, but felt a few things were overdone.
SPOILER ALERT

Too many action scenes where she kicks somebody's ass. They became repetitious and predictable And the ending, when she's obviously been shot but manages to walk through the desert and get help strains credibility.

The Night Agent

Finished in three days

Brilliant.

Jannelies (living between hope and fear) | 334 comments I've watched The Bridge twice, and maybe I will watch it for a third time soon! It's my favourite Scandinavian series but Borgen comes a good second.
Despite the irregularities in the timeline I just loved The Last Kingdom. I also like Vikings and Norsemen (the last one is hilarious).
I've watched House of Cards twice too.

Old series I like: ER! Morse and Young Morse. In fact, lots of British series. British actors have so much more real faces. What I mean is they look like real persons, instead of all having bright white teeth and a flawless complexion.

message 1129: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 29 comments Right now, my favorite movie is Red, White and Royal Blue.
I also love Disney's Lady and the Tramp, Beauty and the Beast, (animated version) Tangled.

One I don't pay for is Disney Plus.

Most of the UK Streaming I have

Sky Q is expensive enough. Netflix is much cheaper if I pay through Sky, Paramount, Discovery Plus free with Sky Cinema package.

Pay for Amazon Prime , Amazon Music and Spotify

There are six adults in my house and that is a lot of viewing hence all the different streaming services. Different kids pay for different things!!
